Paninaro movement was born in Milan in early 80's. Soon it developped to the rest of Italy and some European countries, thanks to the single and video "Paninaro" by Pet Shop Boys in 1986. The name "paninaro" comes from "panino", because the paninaro's meeting point was the new born fast-food: it was the period of the new fashion imported from the States: hamburgers, Coca-cola, VCR.... They really cared to wear designer clothes, which they were: Levi's a bit short at the ankle, Best Company's jumpers, El Charro's belts, Timberland, Monclare's quilted jackets and Burlington socks (or fluo ones anyway). Boys had Invicta backpack and girls Naj-Oleari bags. They rode Vespas or Honda and Cagiva motorbikes for who could afford them. They had a typical way to talk. They listened to Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Vaso Rossi and Jovanotti. They watched TV shows like "Deejay Television" and "Drive-in" , which now is a cult. They weren't interested in Politics and stuff like that: They only cared to go out trying to have fun in every way possible. I should look for the Pet Shop Boys's videoclip... i bought loooads of baci in duty free at rome airport ;D if you're ever up in Consett (can't see why you would want to be in Consett, but there you go.) try a Pizza Daddy. they do THE BEST Pizza's in the world! And I thought I could find the best pizza in the world in Italy!
