So ... I had a buyer from Israel win one of my recent items ... a CD for 99p. I offer UK postage prices as standard on my listings, but request all non UK buyers to get a quote from me first. This buyer didn't do that and then had the cheek to fill in their own postage when they completed the checkout. They entered 49p and paid via Paypal! WTF??!! That wouldn't even cover the cost of a jiffy bag let alone the actual postage. I refunded their payment and sent a new invoice and now they are refusing the pay because they can't afford it! Well tough tits ... making a bid and winning is a contract and if they don't pay, then ebay will get a complaint from me and this person will get a strike. I really *hate* timewasters like this ... total and utter idiot

Bad luck Pete, that is bloody cheeky of the git. 49p... wouldn't even get something sent in the UK, let alone Israel.

I take advantage of this thread to ask you advices of 2 E-bay- related issues happened lately....
Problem #1: I sold an item over a month ago and I'd never been paid.... I started a dispute on the 22nd of November, but I have no signs from it, so i can't even resell the item... Is it normal I have to wait for so long for results?
Problem #2: I bought 4 items a couple of weeks ago. Lovely transaction, but one of the item wasn't the right one. The seller told me I can have my money back, but I have to send the item back before that and I had to pay for the postal costs.... Is that right? I mean, I send it back not because it doesn't suit me or I don't like it, but I have already sent it back: do I have to ask the refund also for the pp?
And I noticed she didn't leave me a feedback. I think she's waiting for MY feedback to see if it's negative or positive and give me the same valutation. I'm keen to give a negative feedback, but she has no reasons to give it back to me, as I paid at once and i sent her back the item at once... If she does, can I open a dispute for vendicative feedbacks?

What is the dispute status ? If the buyer didn't reply after 7 days, then you can choose to close the dispute and you'll get your fees refunded and the buyer will get an unpaid item strike against them I think it's fairly standard to have to pay the P&P for returning an item, if it's a private seller. Did they list a refund policy on their auction ? Have you actually mailed it back? there's not a lot you can do in this situation ... sounds like your feedback is being held to ransom and I really hate that. In cases like that, you're best not leaving feedback at all and just let it go.

Shouldn't I wait for my status to go to the green sign? Or should I close the dispute as you said? I have no news from the buyer since 1 month...She didn't do anything, niether when I opened the dispute... I know it's stardard, and it's fair, because if you dislike the item, it's your business...If you change your mind, you pay the pp: she's got a refund policy and I'm fine with it, I have the same one on my auctions... But the fact is that she sent me an item I didn't buy! It goes without saying that I have to return it! And I don't find fair that I have to pay the pp when the fault it's not mine, do you know what I mean? I actually mailed it back anyway, I had to, because she told me i had to send it back within 10 days, so I had to return it at once to avoid the xmas postal traffic and holiday days last week-end.... Probably I'll do like that....

My dispute status is on the blue sign, that means I can ask the feeds refunded. Shouldn't I wait for my status to go to the green sign? Or should I close the dispute as you said? assuming you are referring to the colour of the tick, it only goes green when the fees have been refunded and it can't do that until either you agree to close the item as you and the buyer have sorted it out, or you, as the seller, close the item because the other party hasn't responded. The standard process is to give the buyer 7 days to respond, as they haven't you can close the dispute without any penalty to you or your account. You'll get your fees refunded and the buyer will get a strike against their name. oh! I didn't get that bit! So the item you got was in addition to what you bought or instead of one of the items you did buy? That's really odd ... I personally would've refused to pay the postage when it was their error. did you contact the buyer to ask for the money back ?

I contacted the buyer when I saw the wrong item... She told me I had to sent it back within 10 days and she was going to refund me within 30 days. But as I haven't received my money back, I' d like to contact her telling her I'd like the pp refund as well...

so you're going for a refund instead of her sending you the correct item you ordered ?
If they did that, then you'd both incur extra P&P fees and then you'd be fairly even. I think it's a bit dodgy for them to expect a return of the item in 10 days but not to give you a refund for up to 30 days!

so you're going for a refund instead of her sending you the correct item you ordered ? She never mentioned about sending me back the item 'cause we both agreed for a refund.... I'm reading her refund policy and she cleary says she won't pay for the pp in case of returning of a sold item, so i don't think there's much I can do about the pp refund.... Anyway, she says it's a policy reguarding the sold item; but we're talking about an item I didn't actually bought anyway!! So I really don't know what to do...

there is no harm in asking and I think you have grounds to complain to them because they made the error, not you.

Last night I studied the refund policy and the Help Section in E-bay reguarding to this problem. This morning I wrote her explaining the situation: - I told her it's not fair that I have to pay for a mistake of her and even if she explains clearly she won't pay for the pp for items that people buy and want to return, whatever the reasons are. I made her notice it's not a law matter, but a cortesy and justice matter. And if she looks for law matter, I made her notice that that rule she explains talks about "for items that people buy" and honestly, that's not the item I bought, so the terms are not suitable anymore.... - On the plus side, I made her notice I can open a dispute for "Non received Items and Items that haven't got the features described in the insertion". So I asked her the refund both for the item (12€) and the pp (4,05€) ortherwise she can also send the item I did buy and she has to pay the pp, so we spent the say ammount of money. Dunno if all of that is clear, it's difficult to explain that in English!

I have just had a similar thing happen to me, I was out bid on an item, but I then got an email from ebay offering a 'second chance' bid, which I responded to, Buy It Now £15. plus £5 p&p, When the item arrived, it was totally different to the one I had originally bid on, so I emailed the seller, who told me, she had sent a message to me through ebay (which I hadn't noticed, before I bought the item) telling me the item would be slightly different. It was a lot different and no good to me. The item I originally bidded on was infact lots of knickers sizes 8 to 12 New ones obviously. She sent me another lot sizes 18 to 22. You can see my point. She agreed an exchange if i returned the package but I would have to pay the postage, another £5. I have never heard from her since..So I can say I have lost £25.

i would write to ebay customer services asking for advice. I would do before doing anything, even if I've got cleary in my mind what to do... She refused to give me the pp back and ALSO refused to give MY item back, so I suppose she doesn't own it anymore and I can open a dispute for that, because I bought it and she owes it to me. On the plus side, a friend of mine made me notice her insertions are illegal because she doesn't respect some E-bay rules: she sells several items, with several colours and sizes in just ONE insertion. And even if you're allowed to sell like that, you have to assure all the sizes and colours to the buyer and she didn't do with me...

if she won't give you your item then they MUST refund you your money RIGHT NOW!
Good luck with the rest of the complaint.
Is it an Italian seller ?
