so, Southern Electric have lost my initial application to move my Gas to them. So, I made another one, which they've also lost. You may think this is bad news?! Well, nope, it isn't. Because, when I made the 2nd application, I also sent a letter of complaint. They called me, on Saturday, to fix this. They've signed me up, over the phone, including the online only discount *and* given me £25 off my next Electricity bill for the troubles I have experienced. Score! But that's not the best bit ... SE only want £35 a month whereas, British "We Haven't Got A Fucking Clue" Gas, who despite upping my Direct Debit only last month, have now increased it again, to £53 a month!!! Stupid idiotic company ... quite how they expect to retain customers, I really don't know ...

My friend saw this, and all he could say was thank god he lives in a shared house, and has signed a contract which means for it's term his rent can't go up! I spoke to his landlord, who's fairly pulling his hair out over rising costs and such. He has a lot of properties in some of the more poor areas of Peterborough, and so finding people to rent at the cost he needs to turn a comfortable profit is proving very difficult!
At the moment my friend pays £75 a week, all inclusive - minus phone, because they don't actually have one lol. His landlord wants it upped, even just by ten or fifteen pounds and he can't do it 'cause they'd all leave and he's struggled to fill up that house in the past!

Argh I hate Southern Electric...they've sent us a gas bill for £800 on an estimated reading! Estimated by who exactly? Who the f**k uses £800 of gas in a quarter in summer? Surely someone must have looked at it and thought "hang on, this can't be right". Lindsey rang them up and the guy was really arsey with her. We need to give them an actual reading, which is fine and all but we don't have a key for the cupboard thing and they won't give us one. British Gas want to charge us £8 for a key! 8 frigging quid..i think not! So now we're waiting for downstairs neighbours to be in so we can ask if they have one we can borrow. And anyway...someone from Southern Electric came to read both meters a few weeks ago Seriously, we've had nothing but trouble from Southern Electric...i can't wait til we're not with them anymore! update on this after the bill from them for £892.10, we managed to get a meter key and send them a reading. depsite the fact they said they'd send out a revised statement, a month later we've heard nothing. lindseys just called them, apparently they now owe us £92.60! god know how they've worked all that out but, score!

Gah! BT are stupid ...
Average Monthly Usage = £16.08
They wanted to increase my monthly direct debit to £23.50 a month, from it's current level of £15. WHY!? Why try and increase it by £8.50 a month - that's a 56% rise? Where is the justification for that based on my historical usage?!
I get that it has to go up, but not by that much. I don't see why I should want to build up a large amount of credit with BT since my usage is pretty stable. It's my money ... not theirs.
I wish I could go back to paying what I've used each month, but I can't do that since I can't choose the billing date and their one doesn't work for me and my monthly salary schedule.
Grrrr ...

That is a pretty horrendous rise. I know it may be in vain, but couldnt you explain the situation to BT? It's worth a shot at least.
Just got my quarterly Gas & Electricity Bill from Winter... at £500. I get that it's Winter, but, My housemates and I decided to just wrap up warm rather than put the heating on constantly. We did that, and we're still paying £361 just for the gas. Between the 5 of us it's only £100, but we're just surprised at how much it is for so little.

My direct debit is now £16.50 a month. What I object to is that I have to do this ever quarter when they want to raise my amount by a ridiculous amount. They clearly want me to build up a credit amount with them, but why should I? I'll pay what I owe and if I get into an arrears, they can have one off payments to clear it. I've never missed a payment in my life ... How many hours a day is your heating on? What temp is the termostat set at? What kind of contract are you on? You're only paying for what you use ...

Ugggh... I must rant about how I've got to find £500 to cover bills this month because Child Tax Credits have not paid us for a whole month (which covers this) all because they don't think my second child (who is 7 months old now by the way!) even exists!!
Stressed out to hell.
