inverted apostrophes ftw!! time 4 a noob rant!!111 all fear me and my reflective rollerskates that I haven't invented yet!!11 I haven't even got ten posts yet. Dare I enter the pool of big fish? More at 11 8) as long as my pants don't spontaneously combust I'll be fine Saying that, this forum has weird smilies. Nothing like the others I've ever seen in all my time pointlessly spamming other forums. You need an ice burn. But anyway.. It's complete crap how artists like Jonas Brothers can get a five star record in Rolling Stone and then read about Oasis only getting a two and a half star release, especially when the reviewer fails miserably discussing about the songs and their respective songwriters. Shame on them. Makes me gag when I hear about them. And then they get so much damn airplay here in Australia as well.. and there's always a goddamn radio playing in the place where I work. Every Saturday. Horrible times. I honestly hope Miley Cyrus and those Jonas Brothers die in a great big flaming car crash in the not too distant future. Yes, I hate her too. She's just the daughter of that one guy who wrote "Achy Breaky Heart". As well as all those other pathetic so called "rock" bands. You know, the ones that just appear out of nowhere with those absolutely pathetic songs that they ripped off from T-Rex, the Sex Pistols and such. We have a few of them here in Australia too. And then they hog all the limelight with that one catchy song that every teenager who hasn't already got half of their brain missing can have it eaten at more by this generic llama feces. Expect this to be the first of many rants. Expect at least this one to be included. Oh, and..

Oasis are shit...full stop...I actually like SOS from the Jonas Brothers and See You Again from Miley Cyrus...but nothing else lol
By "Rock Bands", do you mean like The Hoosiers and stuff (Apparently there songs are rip-off of other songs)...cause i like them. It doesn't matter who the artist is, if they have a good song it's good FULL STOP. If they keep on making the same SHIT song, they're obviously rubbish (*cough* Oasis *cough*)

._.
Oasis aren't that shit. And they haven't been making the same shit song. It's just Wonderwall played on a loop. Fuck, I'd like to see them get in a fight with the Jonas Brothers. Then we'd see who'd win.
And on a side note, Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand are worse. And I hope you'd agree with me on that.. but I'm somehow doubting that.. and then there's all these obscure indie bands that pop up on the television because the presenters that pick them are either drug addicts or have egos that are larger than their hairdos..
I'd also like to point out that anything Disney makes these days, they're just flogging a dead horse. Literally. They used to be good, but now anyone that is in there is in it for the money. And their target is 12-15 year old girls who like Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers.

I like Morning Glory purely for Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall and She's Electric. The new album isn't too bad... but I never really got in to Oasis.
Cannae really stand the Kaiser Chiefs but I do usually find my self singing along when I hear the odd song on t'radio or anywhere. Damn them.

Oasis have found a formular that works and are sticking to it.....same as Coldpaly and Keane....and dare i even say U2? If it works and it floats your boat then fair enough....if not....then fair enough too....people are entitled to opinions.....
As for this "pop" phenomenon....it's nothing new....right back to the 60's bands have been manufactured.....The Monkees are one of the first examples i can think of.....The Jacksons.....into the 70's we had acts like The Osmonds and David Cassidy....hell even the Sex Pistols were "manufatured" by Malcom Maclaren... Then in the 80's things took off with acts like Mel and Kim....Kylie....Jason Donovan....Bros....and this carried on into the 90's and right up to today with Take That....Westlife...Mc Fly.....The Jonas Bros.....
The only real difference is that back then those people actually had talent and could play instruments and write their own songs (although even back then songwriting teams were in full force...Holland/Dozier/Holland wrote most of the Motown classics...Heck...even Elvis never wrote a single song...but had many different people writing for him)....today they are just pumped out fatser than before....with the advent of reality TV it seems everybody can become a star....technology is so advanced that you don't even need to be able to sing in tune....they can tweak that in the studio....and sad to say it's more in our faces now than ever....sure there are those of us that will stand up and say "this is not real music" but the fact of the matter is....it actually is....it's just not very good.....
Will it ever end? Sadly not.....and will we see the death of "real" music? No....because as well as being used for turning talentless people into stars...technology has given a voice to those that may otherwise never have been heard and that voice comes in the form of downloads.....just look at Arctic Monkeys.....now one of the biggest bands in the UK.....all thanks to Myspace....

Oasis arn't shit, in fact Morning Glory and Definately Maybe are two of the best albums ever (practically fact!). I agree on the second part, I don't listen to any music because it's cool, or because it gets reviews. I stopped caring about reviews awhile ago, I listen to the music for the music, and to be honest the pop culture, and music that you don't like is never going to go away. Seriously you guys come across as opinion Nazi's....

imo early oasis is better than newer oasis.
oh and i like kaiser cheifs, but can see why people who might only hear the singles (which are played to death) get sick of them/think they're a bit samey.
what annoys me more is the way the industry continues to look for the quick buck, will sink money into promoting a new "good looking" group (ie one night only) so that you can't avoid them, and i guarentee they'll be dropped/over before a second album turns up. meantime there are awesomely talented bands/artists out there ignored by radio and labels who don't want to invest, who are forced into sessioning/cover bands in order to make a living.
don't agree with you entirely Lee tbh, yes the power of the internet/myspace etc can be hugely influential. but you still need airplay and really a label behind you willing to back you. bands becoming successful purely from myspace isn't exactly commonplace, and theres more to the arctic monkeys story than just the myspace factor.
and for what its worth i don't rate the monkeys at all.

hahhha..I have a friend who is convinced that Kylie writes at least some of her songs. No, I'm sorry, she doesn't write anything Well anyway..this is my rule. I realise nowadays it is about "how you look" but...how you look should not be a factor in music. If you can't sing, can't play an instrument, can't remix, and can't write songs, YOU CAN'T BE A MUSICIAN. I'm sorry, but to be a musician, you have to be musical. The osmonds were like creepy animated Jonas Brothers

hahhha..I have a friend who is convinced that Kylie writes at least some of her songs. No, I'm sorry, she doesn't write anything she has "co-writing" credits on many of her tracks ... so she must contribute something musically or lyrically. You can be an entertainer though ... that's what pop is, entertainment. People need to worry less about the authenticity of music and just worry about whether they like it or not. I couldn't give a toss who wrote, created, played on or performed a song ... so long as it my ears and brain like it, it's fine by me.

Oh i know Chloe....i wasn't stating that the ONLY future music will have is the internet....maybe i should have worded it differently....what i guess i really meant to say was that at one time bands who really did have talent got signed....then for some reason all that stopped and those very talented bands out there couldn't get a deal to save their lives....now, at least in some form, they have a way to get noticed with the advent of downloads and myspace.... and as for the Artic Flunkeys....yeah...they suck horse bottom big time....they're like the musical version of a faked orgasm....
