Here's hoping Fillipe Massa makes a speedy recovery - his crash today was one of the worst I've ever seen in F1, especially from the on-board camera.
It's amazing he wasn't killed.

I suppose that's the miracle of today's safety technology - 15 years ago he'd be dead, no questions asked. Even though I'm not a Ferrari supporter at all (Brawn/McLaren all the way...), I know how much he brings to the sport and hope he makes a speedy recovery as well - would love to see him back in Valencia.

Massa’s condition improving says official
Injured Ferrari driver Felipe Massa’s condition is said to be improving, according to a Hungarian government official. Massa remains stable in a Budapest hospital following his high-speed crash at the Hungaroring on Saturday, in which his helmet was struck by a loose spring from the car of fellow Brazilian Rubens Barrichello.
Massa underwent emergency surgery for a fractured skull on Saturday evening before being placed in an artificially induced coma to aid his recovery. He was awoken briefly for a CT scan on Sunday morning, the signs of which were positive, before resting peacefully again overnight.
On Monday a Hungarian Defence Ministry spokesman reported that Massa is now able to communicate ‘actively’ and can move his hands and legs, suggesting that he has not suffered significant brain damage.
"He's woken up (from sedation) more and more often now and he's able to communicate actively, that is, he reacts when he's talked to,” Istvan Bocskai told Hungarian television. “We are optimistic - in our hope a slow recovery is beginning."
Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo is due visit Massa in the AEK Hospital on Monday, after dedicating the team’s second-place finish in Sunday’s Hungarian race to his absent driver.
"I hope I will have good news," Montezemolo told Ferrari’s website. "Today's result, the best in this difficult season so far, is for Felipe!”
In addition to members of his family, who flew into Budapest on Sunday, Massa has also had visits from Barrichello, Bernie Ecclestone and several members of the Ferrari team, including team principal Stefano Domenicali.

Massa is a cool guy, always making jokes in press conferences and stuff...the accident was horrible, I really hope he makes a full recovery.

Apparently it's not life threatening anymore, but there is extreme damage to his eye, and his racing career looks over. I hope the press are exaggerating as usual .

Although I hope there's some good racing between the likes of Hamilton and Schumacher, I have never liked Schumacher and am really disappointed that he's going to be racing again considering he retired 3 years ago.
Saying that, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest and it does make the rest of the season quite interesting now.

I'm excited about the return of Schumacher, if Brawn's poor form wasn't making it interesting enough it should help things along. I've liked him as a guy but hated him as a racer, but although he went over the top a couple of times you have to admire his desire to win at all costs. Hopefully he'll be better than Raikonen straight away and have a few battles with the likes of Hamilton and Vettel. How many German drivers does that make now, 6??
I'm amazed at the reliability of F1 cars these days. I remember when you used to get about ten mechanical failures per race.

Awesome news regards Schumacher. I was a fan of his since day 1. I suspect the ratings might go up for the next race.

I do agree that Schumacher coming back in is going to make it a lot more exciting a season, but don't think he should be allowed a whole extra day's driving in the Ferrari F1 car as preparation - apparently that new Spanish guy (sorry, can't remember his name) only had something like 2 hours in an F1 car before the Hungarian GP actual race. Schumacher was driving for about 15 years, wasn't he? Surely he knows how one drives

Hmm, I agree. Why should he be allowed to have a test session when the Spanish bod wasn't. I thought it was quite good that he actually finished the race! Didn't 'wow' or anything but to have finished must have been such an achievement.
Come on Hamilton!!!!

but don't think he should be allowed a whole extra day's driving in the Ferrari F1 car as preparation He drove the 2007 Ferrari F1 car from what I saw, I gather it's perfectly within the rules as it's not current season nor will it carry any development parts on it due to it being built to completely different regulations. It's probably a budget thing more than anything. Ferrari can fit it in their budget as it was at their own track. Torro Rosso don't have such a thing and their budget is tiny in comparison. He needs to know if he's fit enough, I think that was the main concern, remember he's not raced at those speeds since he retired. Algarsari (or however he spells it) has been racing constantly for years so doesn't have any cobwebs to blow off.

I think it's a shame, but never mind. Will Ferrari just have the one driver now then? I think Luca Badoer is gonna do it instead ... he's Ferrari's test driver, but still, he ain't no spring chicken either. I have to say though, I reckon Schumi woulda been as successful as a Mark Ramprakash return to test cricket for England. The expectation would far out-weigh the performance delivered and everyone would be disappointed.

Agreed with Pete there. They really need a new young test driver who can be given a fantastic opportunity to step into Massa's shoes. Who else do Ferarri really have otherwise??
