Back in the day (1996-97 ish), Feeder were my big musical secret. No-one had heard of them, yet they were putting out such classic singles as Two Colours, Stereo World, Tangerine and Cement. John Lee personally handed me his drumsticks at the end of a gig at the Chelmsford Army & Navy once - throwing them into the crowd isn't very practical when there's no crowd!
Anyway, thankfully Feeder were eventually recognised by the music-buying public, but I bet there's loads of more great music out there that's just begging to be heard... but by artists who no-one has ever heard of.
To kick off this thread, I'm gonna introduce you all to my favourite obscure song at the moment, a track called 'Sunshine Girl' by a Japanese duo called moumoon. Hope you like it, and post some more obscure stuff in response!

I hope I don't ruin it for you but it reminds of a cross between a Peter Andre song and something by a girl group from the 90s, but probably not as bad as either. There's a song by a Japanese pop band I really like, but I can't remember anything about it, apart from some vague recollection of something catchy in the chorus.
Intergalactic Lovers are quite big in Belgium, but unknown in the UK:
The Sorry Kisses are from York and not too well-known:
They're two of my favourite new songs this year.

That was the Danish entry in the Eurovision song contest! Great little song, I've been following them on Twitter for a little while but never got round to listening any of their other stuff.

Maybe not quite an unknown band, but has someone on here heard of Rise Against? I guess you did cause they are generally known much better than Feeder around the world.
I find them amazing. Songs like "Savior", "The dirt whispered", "Survive", Behind closed doors", "Architects", "Dancing for rain", "Swing life away", "Everchanging" and "Wait for me" (Just to name a few) are really worth a listen. They have really strong melodies and lyrics and they are right now my second favourite band (after Feeder, of course)
As for really unknown bands, I would suggest Youth Group, it is a soft rock Australian band which I'm sure none has ever heard of. In particular, I would suggest songs like "Why don't the buildings cry?", "In my dreams", "Start today tomorrow" and "On a string".

Lol, I'm a massive fan of Silversun Pickups. Always feels a little strange when someone from the UK tells me they also like them, sometimes feels like I'm the only brit who knows about them. I also love Say Anything. Sure they can be a bit emo and childish but I really like their sense of humor. They really make me laugh. Can't wait for their new album this year. I have also been listening to a Swedish band, Kent. I was introduced to them via Guitar Hero: World Tour. (The game that also introduced me to Silversun Pickups)

Check out 'Sharks'. They've just released their debut album, and it's brilliant. The title 'No Gods' is no doubt on youtube and it's my favourite song of the year, so far.

Beachbuggy sound great, I'll definitely investigate further. I always thought Silversun Pickups were pretty well known? Anyway, Silver Sun are better. I love their crunchy guitars.

John Frusciante. You may or may not know him as the former guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (left in 2009). I regard him as the greatest guitarist on earth. His solos for RHCP as well his own music put him right at the very top of my list of favourite solo artists (yes, I realise he's not a band lol).
Some of his songs:
And RHCP live solos:
He is amazing.

A British Band that's no more because they switch back to their former incarnation Halo. This is The Exhibition.
Really great tune. They have released a couple of mp3 songs for free and an EP that I'm lucky enough to cactch.

Was reasonably good iirc (I can't listen to that YouTube vid at the moment though...), and I think it might have been that one! Good catch if so.
