Absent Elk. A really good band who don't seem to be going anywhere, despite them being signed by Sony BMG a couple of years ago. The bassists dad drives trains for the same company as my hubby! lol!
Let me Know:
The best cover of Pokerface i've ever heard:
Comfort or Amuse (This one will make your spine tingle)

Halo were an amazing band, Lunatic Ride is still one of my most favourite albums of all time. Fantastic! I agree Halo are writing a new album as I'm speaking. Another great british band : The Yards. It's a part of the Stone Roses that became The Seahorses and mute into the Yards. They've done 2 studio album (The Yards, Imperial Measures) and a live (Live at Minster). And they've splitted The singer, Chris Helme, his a Voice... One of my favorite singer with Cris Cornell (and Bruce Dickinson, but it's another story !). Here's a song : PureAnd a video clip "homemade" by someone

BluefisH is a four-sibling-band from Dordrecht, which is not far from where I live. Anyway, the music fits the current weather: happy and summery! Have fun!
And one more for you if you like rockier stuff...

Great place to let you know some French bands (please, no, don't go away) The first one is Deja Vu, they're from Lyon, but even in France they're not really recognized as they should be! The second one is called Sutcliffe. I didn't find the song I was looking for, but anyway here's an other one And the last one is called Skip the Use, they're getting more and more famous here ! They're really, really good, judge by yourself!

Six years of French lessons, yet I fail to understand most of the lyrics! That's some cool music though! And I happen to know Deja Vu. When I bought the album by the Gents, it came with their Alison Gray single. Proper music, that!

Well, at least I have to admit that the lyrics of the Sutcliffe song are difficult to understand, even for me with such a mix ! And I'm pretty amazed to see that you knew Deja Vu, you've seen their single in the Netherlands, really ? (And by the way Alison Gray is a terrific song!)

Yeah, I orderd the album by The Gents from a French website, and Alison Gray was included as a freebee! I think I might be one of the few people in the Netherlands that has it though, I never heard anyone talk about Deja Vu and browsing through these videos, it took me a while to realise they were the same band! ! I must say I was impressed, it is a fun song! Oh, and for the record, I can understand some of the lyrics in Alison Gray!

Not a band, but a great artist nonetheless: Gregory Page. He's American, but the majority of his fan base is Dutch! He's real retro and all

Well I saw this thread and I thought I'd contribute. These 2 bands aren't really unknown in Canada, they are basically legends over here. However, they never got famous anywhere else and are practically unknowns in the rest of the world, however are basically epic. Think of Feeder's legacy of music in UK vs America and you'll get the idea. Same thing today too since they are too old to be played on radio but still release albums. They both also have a repetoire even bigger than Feeder's, so there should be tons of songs to listen to from both bands if you get into them. The first is the band The Tragically Hip which started in the late 80's have like a dozen albums and still release today however most of their popular stuff(in Canada only) is from the 1989 until 2000. Oh by the way the title of this is "New Orleans Is Sinking", however it should be noted that this song was released in 1989, not post Katrina. So a bit prophetic now. The 2nd band is Blue Rodeo. Same legacy started earlier in the mid 80s, remained popular until the mid 2000's. Tons of hits here and nothing anywhere else(except minor chart appearances). These guys are a combo of blues, rock, and country, enjoy. Enjoy

So, who of you guys know Norwegian? Well I don't, but I don't need to understand it in order to realise this band is unique! I've been listening to this music for three weeks or so now and they're so awesome!
Who knows, I was already planning on learning Norwegian anyway, just for fun, but this band pushes me to really do that!

I decided recently that I prefer Play for Today by Ultrasound to Generation Freakshow - making it my favourite album of the year. Here's the lead single from it:

Finally someone asking for some Norwegian peoples Quite hard to translate the lyrics since they sing in the local dialect! Luckily for me they come from the same place as me in Norway, the Stavanger region. They are going out on they're FINAL tour now in january, so you should go see them in Amsterdam on february 28th The venue is Melkweg Max!

Is is really remarkable how similar Norwegian is to Dutch and English - very interesting Kaizers are big in Norway, aren't they? And I will definately go and see them when they're in Amsterdam. The Melkweg is a really nice venue, Feeder have been there too during their Renegades tour. Wouldn't want to miss Kaizers Orchestra now, since I've been listening to this band non stop for several weeks now (sorry Feeder ) EDIT: Oooh, 1000th post

For those of you who are interested in some music in Dutch (Dutch slang that is): here's De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, the only rap music I can really stand This is not just rap, but sheer poetry and innovation. And here's the translation, lyricstranslate.com/en/sterrenstof-stardust.html sadly the song does not translate the many word plays too well, for example the Dutch word for 'nail polish' is 'nagellak', which is combined with the word 'intergalactic': 'inter-nagellak-tisch'.

There's a growing French band : Catfish. It's a folk, blues duo. A really great live band.

And what about Kagoule ? It's a Nottingham trio who sounds like The Pixies, Nirvana and so on. Really cool band. Their first album "Urth" is due on August on Earache Records. Mudhole - It reminds me a little bit of Joy Division on the chorus. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyFaSSdEBwEMonarchy - a small Feeder taste at the beginning ! www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-2ffvgiH3Q

Did someone mention Nirvana? I'm quite into a small US band called Noiseheads, definitely a big nirvana/grunge feel to their songs! Here's a link to one of their songs: youtu.be/4wnRJXpQqhQThey've got an album out called 1994 (not being subtle on the grunge thing at all!), definitely recommend them if you're a fan of grunge stuff

All Ends! Playing this song as everyone knows it from OneRepublic. It's their only cover track. Heavier in some respects but they're on hiatus at the moment. Not too sure what's happening as yet but hopefully they'll be back. They originate from Sweden and some members from In Flames helped to form the band. All Ends is a female duo-fronted group with 1 single, 1 EP and 2 albums. www.discogs.com/artist/1322502-All-EndsLemme know what you think!
