I've heard that there's one or two of you on here that has a studio version of Rush. I bloody love Rush Live so I'd love to hear it. Can anyone help?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Rush (Live) is actually just a studio recording made to sound live, so as far as I know that's the only version of Rush out there - unless someone has actually got Rush (Live) (Live) - which would be pretty funny.

Someone has told me directly that they have an alternative, studio version of Rush Live. Keeping that person anonymous in case, but he won't share it with me.

Doubt it. Presumably any 'studio' version would just be the same track without the fake applause/crowd noise.

I've been led to believe that this version exists too. The fake live sound doesn't bother me too much though so I didn't pursue it.

Basically, he's referring to the version that's on this tape ... which is a studio / demo version. It's really quite different to version we know. www.feederanorak.co.uk/releases/release.php?id=282And you're quite right, I don't have any plans to share it ... because whilst I own the tape itself and I do have a digital version of the track, since I am not the copyright holder, I don't think I have the option to share. Regards the officially released version, this is a studio version with added crowd noise. I don't think anyone outside the band or label has heard this track without said crowd noise.

Just out of curiosity Pete is the Rush demo drastically different to the released Rush Live? (I.e. the two different come back around's) Or is it basically the same but slowed down? Cracking thing to have in your collection either way!

yes, it is drastically different ... there's elements of it that made it to the version we all know, but not a lot ...

I didn't realise Rush Live was fake live, why not just call it Rush?
I also didn't realise there was not one but two Feeder tracks I've yet to hear, that being the Don't Bring Me Down demo.
I'd do anything to hear these two tracks. Could we all meet up somewhere and listen to your copy Pete?

Would be nice of the band to give us the ability to complete our media library (I'm thinking digital copies). The benefit being they get money for it, we get the tracks we're missing and the people who own the original material - which basically applies to Pete - still have something of high value and rarity.

I didn't realise Rush Live was fake live, why not just call it Rush? The track was first used on a compilation called Home Truths and I am assuming that given the band were gathering a reputation as a fine live band, they wanted to showcase that with a "live" track. Probs didn't have one, so they dubbed crowd noise onto a studio version of Rush. Hah! Oh dear ... DBMD is also very much different to the version we know, it's electric for starters! Have you also clocked that I have a demo version of Undivided too, although that's not drastically different to what we know? ;-) I don't particularly want to travel just to play a few mp3s from my phone! If we were all at a gig or something then it's maybe feasible ... I keep being tempted to sweet talk to people doing the music before a gig to plug in my phone before a show. I'm sure the whole crowd would love to hear something rare or unheard ... Raindancer live show anyone? haha!

Well quite ... I think these type of tracks (and others that are no doubt in G's archives) should form the bonus tracks on some re-issues. I've mentioned this and offered to currate / assist in such projects, but alas I don't think the appetite is there at the moment. I think things are also complicated by who owns the Echo era material these days (maybe Chrysalis, not 100% sure). I'll keep mentioning it to the contacts I have in the hope it lays a seed somewhere. I mean, let's not forget, Swim turns 20 this year and Polythene does the same next year ... I think it's a shame they missed the 20th anniversary of Two Colours last September.

It is indeed a shame to have missed Two Colours anniversary last year. It'll be lovely to see something to celebrate these anniversaries as of late - Two Colours 20th, Swim 20th, Echo Park 15th... It does on and on! All very important releases for the band in my opinion. Would you reckon a petition would encourage some motivation for the labels, Pete?

"the label" consists of about 3 people ... i doubt it'd make much difference.

I don't think Grant is interested in this at all. Isn't there some interview where he talks about being a perfectionist when it comes to finalising tracks etc? He's not interested in releasing 'unfinished' tracks. Look at your Feeder collection as it is - how many demo tracks do you have that were officially released? Off the top of my head I can't think of any. Feeder as a band have just never done it, nor is there likely to be much if any financial incentive to release this stuff because there's just no market for it. It's hella annoying to know there are tracks out there you can never get hold of legitimately, but you just have to accept it.

What do you think to the rarer, harder to obtain tracks (such as Uptight, No Light...)?

Hmm, maybe not demos if that is the case. What do you think to the rarer, harder to obtain tracks (such as Uptight, No Light...)? It would be great if all the stuff that has never been released on CD (in this country) was collected in some way, but the same issue applies with the lack of any demand or market. I'm not saying that's impossible in the future, but Feeder have never really cultivated their fan base since everything moved online, and I don't see them starting any time soon.

To be fair to Grant, when I asked him about this demo tape, he didn't say no to having the demos out there ...
