this is why I pay from a specific account with money put aside each month anyways ... I don't expect any company not to put their prices up but I do expect better customer services from those companies. SE are rated number 1 which is why I went with them. Not the cheapest but certainly the best in terms of customer service, at least to date. I seem to recall Southern Water not billing me for sewerage for the first 18 months of me living here, despite me telling them I'd moved in on the day I did so. They tried to ask me for the best part of £500 in one go ... I complained and not only did they let me pay over another 18 months but they also knocked a certain percentage off the bill as it wasn't my fault.

Especially as it was the first few months of getting used to paying bills etc. We've not had a problem with sorting bills otherwise

so, British Gas now owe me money (£36) as a result of the latest meter reading and my last increased direct debit payment.
Apparently, once they have the final meter reading after my transfer goes through, I have to call them to get any money they may owe me back again and they'll send it as a cheque rather than putting it straight back into my bank account?! Well that's just the final kick in the krankies ... I'm glad to be leaving. The operator even had the gaul to claim that British Gas are still a lot cheaper than most companies before the recent price rises! Dream on mate ...

would you really want to price fix for another 3 years ? Who's to say it won't go down again ?
but yes, most companies offer fixing or prices if you want it.

it's always a gamble ... still, if prices keep going up, we'll just have to learn to use less and then it won't matter.

Don't know how many of you are on a key meter with your electric, like me, but my mom told me that people who use a key meter are charged 45% more for their electric than people who have a bill. How unfair is that. She listens to Radio 4 a lot

How unfair is that. She listens to Radio 4 a lot it's true ... but why don't you change it ? I'd never go onto a key meter ... pointless, although I guess if you can't be sure you can pay a regular bill by direct debit of once a quarter by cheque then I guess it's the only way. Not sure if that applies to you or not ... I guess the only good thing is that it teaches you not to waste electricity. Still, there's no way I'd go onto one of those ... no way I'd want the power to just cut out, especially if the shops were shut and I couldn't get more credit!

delays did one of those "gigs in a fans front roon" couple of years ago up the road in muswell hill....... instead of doing acoustic/skiffleness they bought like all their amps and stuff for full electric show, electricity meter ran out and the keyboardist hafd to leg it down road to shop to get more credit for them!

Argh I hate Southern Electric...they've sent us a gas bill for £800 on an estimated reading! Estimated by who exactly? Who the f**k uses £800 of gas in a quarter in summer? Surely someone must have looked at it and thought "hang on, this can't be right". Lindsey rang them up and the guy was really arsey with her. We need to give them an actual reading, which is fine and all but we don't have a key for the cupboard thing and they won't give us one. British Gas want to charge us £8 for a key! 8 frigging quid..i think not! So now we're waiting for downstairs neighbours to be in so we can ask if they have one we can borrow. And anyway...someone from Southern Electric came to read both meters a few weeks ago Seriously, we've had nothing but trouble from Southern Electric...i can't wait til we're not with them anymore!
