constructive ... although I should add that the NME is worse If you're looking for an argument... you'll not find it here... ;D Without meaning to contradict my earlier bit on not trusting what someone on the internet tells you, they once wronged a friend of mine... pricks. With Kerrang my gripe is more about the content. Meant to be a metal mag. You could even argue that Feeder shouldn't be in it (NOTE: could not should). I mean I stopped buying it when they started featuring Linkin Park and the likes. And even if you take the "rock not just metal" stance, hardly any coverage for The Wildhearts, 3 Colours Red (in their later years), Therapy?, The Almighty... GOOD BANDS in other words. Who the fuck wants to read about My Chemical Romance or 30 Seconds to Mars? Even if you take the "not just rock, not just metal, but ALTERNATIVE" stance (and "alternative" is probably my least favourite music related word), MCR are no less choreographed than Backstreet Boys and 30 Secs to Mars are about as alternative as Coronation Street. We need a magazine called PROPER GOOD ROCK that caters to people with brains, not just idiots getting into bands who dress in black only because it'll annoy their parents.

If you're looking for an argument... you'll not find it here... ;D not looking for an argument ... I was looking for some background to your rant, which you've provided I've not bought Kerrang in a lonnnngggg time, mostly because it features a lot of bands I don't particularly like, but at both ends of the spectrum (too heavy and too light).

They're 3 of my favourite bands. I'm also way past 'dressing in black' to annoy my parents. Even my own kids wouldn't do it (2 of whom are actually adults themselves now) I also had a brain the last time i checked. You wouldn't think to look at me that i was into bands like that, but i am, simply because i like the music. I couldn't give a damn what they dress like, or what genre they come under, or how their fans are supposed to look or act. If i like the music then none of that other stuff is important to me. And i dont care about where i read about them either. There's far worse things going on than whats in a magazine! Dont put everyone in the same box.

The ones that give the rest of us a bad name. The ones who say of neds (chavs in England) "Be original, wear black" (not making that up, actually heard that one once). I get your point. Honestly I do. Apart from the LP, MCR, 30STM bit. I'm not having that.

each to their own and all that. It'd be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.

hehe good on you Jude, fair play to ya!
the 1 thing that really arritates me about the mag is the fact that people write in saying 'i'm fed up of seeing blah blah in the mag' and then others saying 'i want blah blah in the mag' (blah blah being a popularish band like my chemical romance or falloutboy that the heavier music fans hate) i think the music spectrum is too wide in the mag, i know you can't please everyone but its just irritating for me!

Exactly my point. It's meant to be a rock/metal mag, not a rock/metal/anything else which'll get us more attention mag.

Personally I think Kerrang is alright as a light read with musical knowledge. Quite often features bands I like (must say I haven't seen a MCR, 3STM or Linkin Park article in quite a while), and it's an ok read on the train or something.
NME on the other hand, is a pile of wank.

NME on the other hand, is a pile of wank. Made by wankers, for wankers. The reason I picked Kerrang and not NME (to be honest most music press does my head in) is because you'd never be able to shut me up about NME. I actually, in the light of recent events, remembered this earlier. Does anyone remember an interview with Feeder in Kerrang round about when Pushing The Senses came out, where it seemed (to me at least, don't ask me to quote it as I don't actually have the article) like the interviewer was trying to stir shit, and it actually came across like they pissed off Grant?

it's ok to say Kerrang is crap but i read it and i know i am not always wanting to read about emo and punk but if it was to go go back to metal then so be it but not rock cause then personally i am gonna say where's U2, Bruce Springsteen and the like.
in the 80's they had ZZ top, Phil Collins and even Big Country in the mag and they are not metal.
so for me to see it as metal means it would cover only metal old and new ie Whitesnake, Ac/Dc, Iron Maiden, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bullet For My Valentime, Naplam Death, Nightwish, Slipknot etc and agreed Feeder shouldn't be there but not to complain if i know i can read about them
