Still haven't got it.. why oh why did I even bother pre-ordering? Free Record Shop (which is Dutch) guarantee that, if I were to buy GF today at their webshop, I'd have it by tomorrow! EDIT: Ah well, I suppose people living in the USA have to wait even longer... but I'm so very eager to listen to it! My Recordstore pre-ordered signed cd has arrived today! So yours should be there by now, and otherwise upcoming Tuesday I really love the album, has been an ease listening to the album over and over already.

Further to a previous post on here about the Japanese bonus tracks, has anyone been able to confirm whether the 2 covers of Feeder tracks feature Feeder in any form playing on the tracks. There was speculation that it was just vocals that was covered by someone else.
Many thanks,
Andy

Musically it's Feeder with different vocals.

Need to give 'Hey Johnny' a few more listens seeing as though lots of people on here seem to love it. Didn't feel it the first few times I heard it!
Favourites after a couple of plays are 'Oh My', 'Children of the Sun' and 'Sunrise'. 'Quiet' is decent too. Worst one is probably 'Fools Don't Sleep', not a fan of that one at the moment. May be a grower however!
Also, 'Generation Freakshow' would sound perfect sung by Billie Joe from Green Day, I feel. Sounds like it belongs on the 'American Idiot' album. Tune.

Listened to the album lots over the weekend..it is immense! From start to finish it is brilliant. It's the album that should have followed Silent Cry. Such a shame that the radio shuns them, because it really is everything from their history chucked in to one terrific album.
Brief thoughts:
Oh My- One of my favourite tracks for years, absolutely love its sounds, and story telling lyrics. Borders- Al heard it, good single choice. Not the best on the album. Idaho- Catchiest song since Buck Rogers? Bloody infectious chorus! Hey Johnny- Great lyrics and really feeling the it, it's an interesting song about Jon because it's the only one so far that isn't really downbeat musically. I like a lot. Quiet- I think it's a grower. It's good but it sounds like a CIS reject, it doesn't really go anywhere. As I said it might grow though. Sunrise- It's good, except for the 'move it to the right' bits, not sure what G was thinking when he wrote those... Generation Freakshow- Musically its great, reminds me of Slowburn. But I'm not over keen on the chorus. That's me being very critical though! Tiny Minds- Seems a bit forgettable but again has growing potential. In All Honesty- Very different, but I like it. Again it's damn catchy! Headstrong- A monster, my second fave behind Oh My at the moment! Like the better part of Renegades. Fool's Can't Sleep- This one has a groove! Not something you can normally say about Feeder. Bet Taka likes playing this one. Children Of The Sun- I absolutely love it. It's already a Feeder classic, imo. Sky Life- A nice end to the album. I do wish they'd separated the two though.

Something crazy happened to my friend yesterday! he bought the new album but when he opened the case (which was sealed), Blurs park-life CD was in there!!? I even asked him if he'd got the CD mixed up with one of his, but he never heard of Blur before...Bizzare!

I even asked him if he'd got the CD mixed up with one of his, but he never heard of Blur before...Bizzare! Hehe, that happened to me once. I bought Dance Party in the Balkans by Alaska In Winter, and the latest Foo Fighters album was in there! I hadn't heard of the Foo's before then either...* *Just kidding about that last bit, how could he not have heard of Blur? Edit - I just remembered it was even weirder than that, the CD had Alaska in Winter printed on it, it was only when it was played that the Foo Fighters appeared instead. This was the reasoning I got: "We had one other instance of this about a year ago, an odd situation right enough but down to a mistake at the pressing plant. We spot-checked all the CDs we had at the time to see if there were any more CDs affected as 2 people in Germany had also experienced the same thing but it appeared that they were one-offs and we couldn't find any others. " I wonder if I should have kept it? It might be worth a load of money.

Reminds me of 2005 when they issued a batch of Swim Re-Surfaced CDs with a Death In Vegas back cover!!! It was a printers error ... so I assume the above issue is just a packing error ...

Album arrived yesterday. I must say its 100 times better than renegades and i think i like it more than silent cry too.
Oh My - Great track and quite catchy. Not mind blowing good but its a solid track. I like the imagery in the lyrics.
Borders - meh still don't like it. just kinda boring & does nothing for me.
Idaho - Great great song. Catchy and memorable. Guitars sometimes remind me of foo fighters.
Hey Johnny - another solid track. The chorus is still stuck in my head.
Quiet - Im not sure about this one yet. I like the atmosphere and tone of the guitar. I think im going to end up loving it but im not sure yet. Its defiantly a grower.
Sunrise - Great track. love the first two verses especially. Only complaint would be that i think the production could have been a bit smoother.
Generation Freakshow - Probably the best track on the album for me and maybe the best song since shatter. Im not a fan of the bridge but everything else is amazing. Guitars are awesome, turn it up loud.
Tiny Minds - Reminds me of weezer or something. Defiantly not bad but i feel like it needed a longer solo.
In All Honesty - Wasent sure about the weird kazoo noises at first but like them a lot more after a few listens. Really good album track though. Would have fit well on silent cry.
Headstrong - yesss! Second favorite song on the album. Amzing fast paced goodness. And it makes you feel good. A good mix of old and new.
Fools Can't Sleep - Interesting song. Defiantly surprising guitar sound from grant but i like it. Not a very catchy song.
Children of the Sun - Really good track but i think the production was kind of lacking again. Should have been full acoustic maybe. I agree with it being a single but maybe the 3rd single and not the second.
Skylife - Really like it! really ties up the album well. Grant does such a good job with just him and a guitar. I wish he would do more stuff like this. Acoustic album next please.
Overall i think its a solid album. Better than the last two but still dosent get up to the level of Echo Park and Comfort in sound for me. Strong 7 to light 8 out of 10 for me. Renegades was a 4/10, Silent cry was like a 6/10. And EP & CS were like strong 9/10 albums.
I think its just missing some Amazing standout tracks like we had with albums like Echo Park, Comfort in Sound & PTS.

I think I've had enough time to judge now...
[01] Oh My This is a nice enough, catchy opener. I’d say it’s even single material despite being nowhere near my favourite track on the album. It reminds me a lot of some of my favourite songs with that sort of piano-esque background music! I rate this a solid 9/10. [02] Borders Lead single off the album, and deservedly so. Those crashing guitars have me hooked, and the chorus is so catchy. It’s haunting, yet fun at the same time. 10/10. [03] Idaho This one has THE chorus to get you hooked. Radio friendly and fairly simple. Not a lot to say, I like. 9/10. [04] Hey Johnny Clearly this song is about an old friend of Grant’s, that doesn’t hold it back from being one of my favourites on the album. The verses are addictive, and the chorus has been stuck in my head since the moment I heard it (almost!). 10/10. [05] Quiet This is the longest song on the album, and is a pretty pleasant listen. Sounds like it was intended to be the ‘Down To The River’ of this album by providing a nice mellow break. I think it does get overshadowed by a number of other strong tracks on the album though. 7/10. [06] Sunrise Yes, Grant had the lyrics on the floor when he was playing this live. Is it a good song? Yes. A little more memorable than the song prior to it in the tracklisting, another song that’s easy on the ears though! 8/10. [07] Generation Freakshow Kaiser Chiefs did this song a couple of years ago, only better (imo). That doesn’t take away from the fact that this song IS awesome though. (Never Miss A Beat is my favourite by the aforementioned band, and one of my top songs of 2009…). The chorus is punchy and sounds GREAT live. 10/10. [08] Tiny Minds So I got this song back in February (I think) when it was put up for pre-order. The chorus reminds me of Tranquilize by The Killers (which again, I love). This is a nice contrast to Generation Freakshow and the solo is brilliant. Overshadowed by a few of my favourites, but it’s still up there. 9/10. [09] In All Honesty Now we start to turn the rock on, this reminds me a little of Into The Blue and is addictive as anything. It’s nothing special, a little throwaway, but maybe that the point of it? 9/10. [10] Headstrong We carry on with the throwaway rock tunes here, good times ahead and all that jazz. It seems that after this track the album gets a bit more serious, so maybe this should have been place before In All Honesty! Not a bad word to say about this song, I really enjoy it. 9/10. [11] Fools Can’t Sleep Now this song sounds just a tad out of place. It sounds a bit like a B-Side and I’m fairly certain Arms would have fit in a bit better here. Probably my lowlight of the album, though I still enjoy it! 7/10. [12] Miles Away Clearly the iTunes bonus track, but I feel it deserves a mention. It’s marginally weaker than Fools Can’t Sleep, but only because of the intro which makes it more difficult for me to get into the song. 7/10. [13] Children Of The Sun I’ve warmed to this being a single, this one’s a grower. To those who claim it to be Just The Way I’m Feeling part 3, I disagree. This is more like Tumble And Fall in my opinion (which I prefer) and the electronics in the chorus make me feel good. 10/10. [14] Sky Life Nice acoustic ending. A little fillery, It is obviously a Children Of The Sun demo as it has the exact same intro and hasn’t been polished, but I feel this deserves a higher status than ‘hidden track’, it’s such a sweet song. 9/10.
Overall the album flows well and I’d say it’s easily better than Renegades. I’m not sure where it would rank in my overall Feeder albums just yet, but I’d like to rank it an overall 9.5/10.

I don't really get all the comparisons with Never Miss A Beat? It's a completely different song!

So when you guys are ready for the Generation Freakshow Survivor, you just shout! I shall act upon it, and within minutes we're off! The songs are still new to me, but I have a fair idea which I like most. No idea if this goes for you, too. Heck, some of you might not even have heard the album! Some of you might have heard it a little. Some of you might have heard it so much, their ears start bleeding when they hear it once more, but I doubt it. Still possible though. But I digress. Anyway, all I wanted to say is that I'm at your service, if you feel ready for the Generation Freakshow Survivor. If not, that's ok with me . But please, don't keep me waiting for too long. Patience is not one of my strong characteristics. That, and I'm dying with excitement .

Flipping heck, if you don't have anything good to say, don't bother posting it!. Jude has been a Feeder fan & a member of this board for years, she is more than entitled to express her opinion. Thank you! Flipping heck, if you don't have anything good to say, don't bother posting it!. I could say the same thing about you ... just because someone doesn't like the new stuff, it doesn't give you the right to slag them off. thanks Pete! ok, i've given the album a few listens now and i can safely says its my least favourite out of all their albums (apart from renegades which i really didn't like at all). I can listen up to tiny minds and then thats it, i actually dislike every song after that. so yeah, not my fave i'm afraid. I like Sunrise and GF and I love Idaho... it should definately be a single! the rest i can take or leave What do you think of Hey Johnny? Perhaps Feeder were a time and place for you and that time and place has passed, though I still hope you'll like GF after more listens. Its in amongst the 5 songs on the album that i do kinda like. I feel bad not liking this album, I really wanted to love it but it just hasn't done it for me. I dont know whether i've outgrown them or anything like that or not. We have got an awful tragedy happening in the family atm so maybe thats clouding my thoughts on anything else. This is the first time ever i haven't bothered getting tickets to see them and i didn't preorder the album so maybe my head is just somewhere else right now. I haven't felt that excitement of getting the new cd on release day, i just downloaded this time, and i NEVER do that! Silent cry and YWTS are still up there with my favourite albums of all time and i still regularly listen to all of the back catalogue. I'm just not "feeling" this album. There isn't anything on there thats grabbed me, its missing the big ballad type song with the soaring chorus for a start! i know i'm sticking out like a sore thumb on this board ''cos everyone else seems to love it but i just can't get into it. Sorry if that annoys anyone but i can't help the way i feel.
