The one silver lining in the test pressing being so expensive was that it took a lot longer to sell out - even I was able to nab one this time! Hopefully the new songs see a return to form, as I was a bit disappointed by All Bright Electric. The good news is that hopefully it means people weren't able to buy them to flog on ebay, as they won't be making nearly as much of a profit as they have been able to the last few releases! The bad news is that we've all had to pay ebay test pressing prices!! At least it's going to the band though. Also I thought the vinyl price was fairly high too - I guess you're getting 4, but still seems a bit pricey to me compared to the ABE vinyl

Nice early find on Amazon. I actually searched for "feeder best of" this morning, but nothing appeared.
I've ordered a signed version for the first time since Tracing Lines I think. It's actually something I'd like to have signed, even though I'm not there to witness it.
It's quite exciting, especially with the 60-page booklet with interviews. The old-stuff tracklist looks great, and I'm not too bothered about the songs they've left off the 2CD version, unlike most of Polythene being ignored for The Singles.
I'd decided against Chepstow a few days ago, but it's suddenly become very tempting again...

BTW, just remembered that "Veins" was a title from G's solo album ... it was pictured on a Recording Planner

I have high hopes for this! Very true - it sounds like it's going to be a very nicely packaged boxset! I know that there will be some who think that "We've already had The Singles", but it really feels like this Best Of has had a lot of thought put into it. I love that we have a complete mini album at the end of it too! And it's really great to hear that Grant has already started writing and having thoughts about the next one! He really does seem to be in a really good place with Feeder at the moment. Even on the ABE tour I thought he genuinely looked like he was loving the shows I saw. I honestly can't really remember a better time to be a Feeder fan! I can however remember a better time for my bank account....

Yeah, I'm sure some will complain about another compilation, but getting virtually an entire album of extra tracks is really quite astonishing and it was 10 years since The Singles, so they were probably due anyway.
I hear ya re the bank balance - not sure I've shelled out £200+ on Feeder items in one go before (The Raindancer stuff was probably my biggest spend to date and even that was a bargain! Can't quite remember the amount ... about £130 I thinks?!) ... I've also had to shell out for some window repairs and some new blinds today ... so my debit card is currently hiding, due to feeling very frazzled!

I like Figure You Out a lot! It would be top three for me if it had been on ABE.
I am incredibly excited for Arrow. I like the idea of Grant doing the 'commercial' sound again because he's a supremely talented pop song writer. And 2001 brought me to the dance, so...
I must admit that I don't care for compilations, but this sounds good. The fact that Dean and Mark were with them the other day makes me think they'll be involved too.

I agree - it's more like The Singles was a record-company thing, whereas this feels more for the fans, with much more involvement from the band. Hopefully it'll get some more people into Feeder's newer material as well. Money-wise - it makes me glad I'm not a collector, and happy enough with only the CDs (especially considering I've just bought a new PC). I couldn't resist this a couple of years ago though, which was a 12th anniversary album with demos and unreleased tracks and all sorts. So if Feeder were to do something like this...

Sweet to see Feeder release this.
Just noticed that the 3CD set has 1 single missing. What happened to Call Out? So we get all singles except that one? Any reason, why it was omitted?
Edit: As well noticed that This Town is missing as well...
but I've seen advertising for this stating it contains ALL of their singles...

And 'Miss You' is included, despite not technically being a single, just a free download. 'Piece by Piece' was a single overseas, and 'Comfort in Sound' was a tour single iirc. Shame 'Call Out' had been snubbed, I love that song!

I gotta say, I’m feeling a bit bummed out over the Best Of.
For two reasons: firstly, that there’s no option to buy ‘Arrow’ on its own. Feeder must be at the point in their career where they’re not picking up many new fans, so surely most of us already own the other tracks, and probably on more than one format. I don’t want to buy the old stuff again just to hear the new stuff. I might feel differently if they’d done what they did with the singles collection in 2006, where they sprinkled a few new tracks in amongst the old. But it seems mean-spirited to say ‘This is a new album – a separate body of work with its own title – but you can only have it if you also buy something you don't want’.
Secondly, when I saw the track list it reminded me of all those songs I love that never get played live. I’ve seen pretty much every Feeder show in London since 1999. I appreciate that it must be really hard to choose a set when you’ve got 9 albums of material to choose from – there are always songs that people want to hear and songs you love to play and songs you fall out of love with. But they’ve settled into a tedious pattern: half the new album, then mostly the same small selection of greatest hits: ‘Feeling A Moment’, ‘Just The Way I’m Feeling’, ‘Insomnia’, ‘High’, 'Just a Day', etc. It’s boring. On the ‘All Bright Electric’ tour, they even removed new songs from the set as they went along (‘Infrared-Ultraviolet’ and ‘Geezer’), replacing them with more of the old hits! I have no doubt that the Chepstow show will be the regular set with, maybe, ‘Figure You Out’ thrown in.
Of course you’ve got to play the hits, but when I think of the other indie/rock bands I love who are decades into their careers – Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Barenaked Ladies, They Might Be Giants are a few that spring to mind – I remember going to gigs and hearing 25 or 30 songs a night with loads of variation. I look at the Best Of track list and think, ‘If this really is the best of you, why don't you play more of it?!’
Does anyone else feel that way?

waiting-for-changes - I get your point, but at £15, the 3CD edition is good value for money by today's standards. Maybe £6 more than you'd pay if Arrow was released as a standalone album? And you're getting a 30-page booklet with photos and interviews too - so hopefully these will be worthwhile. Digital-wise, you could buy the individual Arrow tracks. I've said before that Feeder's setlists are the least adventurous (and most predictable) of any of my favourite bands. And a few of those bands have a lot more songs. But no band is perfect, and Feeder come pretty close! One of Grant's reasons in the past was that the majority of people who go to the gigs won't know songs that weren't on The Singles, so hopefully this Best Of will readdress that in his mind. And I don't know the details, but I'm not sure if Grant would want to sing 30 songs a night for health reasons, given the issues he's had with his voice in the past. I wouldn't mind some instrumentals though. Anyway - we had a big setlist discussion in this thread: feederfansite.proboards.com/thread/5350/march-april-2016-tour-dates?page=2

But it seems mean-spirited to say ‘This is a new album – a separate body of work with its own title – but you can only have it if you also buy something you don't want’. this is quite frankly ridiculous! First and foremost, this is a compilation aimed at celebrating their 21 year history of releasing albums. They didn't actually have to put anything new on it at all. They could've just put say 3 new songs on it, like they did for The Singles ... but no, they've given us 9 ... yes NINE new songs! That is astoundingly generous. So you have to buy 2 other CDs that you might never listen to get those new songs? Big deal ... This is pretty much agree with ... they are stuck in a rut when it comes to set list choices and have been for years. There should be plenty of room in a set list full of hit singles to throw in 2 or 3 lesser played songs - with those songs being mixed up per tour or whatever. They really do have no excuse nowadays, especially as they have an extra guitarist. The Homecoming show is the PERFECT opportunity to do this - they know the crowd will be with them whatever they play, that's what the show is all about. The Best Of should encourage them to play songs they haven't in ages. Will they actually do so? I doubt it and that actually brings me great sadness. You'd have thought that G's solo shows, especially the early ones, where no-one knew any of the songs and yet people listened and applauded and enjoyed it would show him that people don't necessarily have to know every word, every chord, every drum beat to enjoy music at a live show. If they did play more "new" old songs more often, then it might actually encourage people to look beyond the compilation and go and buy old albums or listen to b-sides through various streaming sites.

As for "missing" tracks ... there are quite a few differences in the tracks across the varying formats ... Paperfaces, Side By Side and Tracing Lines are only on the CD version ... but I imagine this is purely down to space on the discs.
Can't explain Call Out being totally missed off ... but does it really matter?
