To be fair to Geoff, when I spoke to him after the 2nd Roundhouse gig, he was so genuine and humble ... he knows he has some big shoes to fill That’s a fair challenge. He is a lovely man and a music lover and a professional, and he’s doing a hard job. I hadn’t really thought about the challenges of playing in one set a bunch of songs that were recorded by at least three different drummers. That’s a lot of styles to cover. I think Tommy Gleeson is nailing it on the guitar, but at least all the parts he’s covering came out of one person’s brain. I think he's finding it quite hard to work out whether to try and emulate them or try to do his own thing. I think he should try and do the latter, because then he'll be at his most comfortable. I agree. He’s been Feeder’s drummer since 2016, which is quite a while now. The drum throne is his. It sucks if it doesn’t quite feel that way yet. On that point, I do think it’s a bit weird that after he played the ABE tour they didn’t use him to record Arrow. Then after he played the Best Of tour they didn’t use him for most of Tallulah. I'm also ok with the timing of some songs changing in the live arena... I'd actually much rather songs played live find their own sound rather than being 100% the same as on record. Okay, this I disagree with ;-) Locking in a tempo needn’t mean that a song will sound 100% the same as it did on the record. I just think that, for some songs, the tempo is as much a part of the song as the lyrics and the melody. But not all. Some can be flexed, or even benefit from it. (For example, my favourite version of YWTS is the live recording from Glastonbury 2000, and it’s much faster and rockier than the album version).

Agree with you all, it's complicated to drum after 3 really good drummers who are clearly different in their style. I remember talking a couple of minutes with Geoff and I remember that he was really humble and was saying 'Drumming after Karl is quite a challenge'. He's still doing a good job even if he tends to speed up some songs indeed. For me, Tommy joining the band has been a great news for the band. It was nice to see the band coming back to a 3-piece band but Tommy gives so much groove to the songs, I was really amazed last year. And well, Paris gig tonight ! I can't wait to see them, I don't know how the band will feel, playing in a smaller venue after a successful UK tour, but last year was really great and I hope they'll be pleased to play in Europe again !

WHAT. A. NIGHT! The gig was amazing, for me the best out of the last 3 they did in Paris. There was much more energy in the crowd than last year and the band seemed really pleased to play! Grant was quite talkative and was joking frequently, especially about the French pronunciation of 'Guillotine' haha. it must feel different than the gigs in the UK as the venue was really small but Grant said several times that they loved playing in venues with no barriers and no separation with the crowd. The Tallulah stuff felt great live, especially the title track which is the best song of the album for me. Kyoto is a killer live, the live atmosphere gives much more energy to the song. Going back to what we said in the previous pages, there were big crowd reactions on the 'classics', and we could see on the guys' faces that they were enjoying seeing us going mad : I never thought I would have felt that but Just a Day was one of the best moments in the gig, Seven Days in the Sun and Insomnia were also on the highs of the gig. After Buck Rogers Grant wanted to do 3 songs in the encore as he was making signs but I don't think they had the time, and the massive end that they did for Just a Day. No Shapes and Sounds and YWTS for us, but to be honest, it would have been hard to give more energy for 2 extra songs. I asked for 'Chicken on a Bone', we didn't get it but it made Grant laugh at least! We could speak with the guys as they came out of the venue one hour after the gig and we were 15/20 people waiting for them. I mostly talked with Grant and Tommy and they told us that they want to come more in Europe but it's getting more and more expensive so they can't promise everything. I'm repeating myself but Tommy adds so much to their sound now, I really hope he'll follow the band for the future years, and he is extremely kind also! If there are people going to the NL or German gigs, I hope you'll enjoy as much as we did!!

Hate to keep harking on about set lists but Shapes & Sounds and YWTS were dropped for Paris as well as no MPD (obviously!). I'd have been pretty gutted about that. YWTS has been going down massively well when it has been played on this tour. Love Shapes & Sounds too.

Also, Tommy and Dean ended surfin' on the crowd yesterday night, it was really fun, and the guys are quite heavy haha! Grant and Taka also hesitated but they didn't

I love the crowdsurfing photos from the Paris gig. I saw British Sea Power at that venue so could imagine the Feeder gig. I'm glad the venue looked pretty full and you had a great time. It's just one of many reasons I'm hanging on to the hope the UK remains in the EU so British bands can easier tour the rest of Europe and vice-versa. And yeah, Tommy has been a great addition to the band, just like Dean Tidey was back in the day. It was funny when I realised Tommy was frontman of The Ga Ga's, as I didn't recognise him at all: I don't hang around after gigs, but I'm tempted to surprise Tommy by asking him to sign my Ga Ga's setlist at some point... To be fair to Geoff, when I spoke to him after the 2nd Roundhouse gig, he was so genuine and humble ... he knows he has some big shoes to fill and given that Jon, Mark and Karl all have different styles - especially Jon - I think he's finding it quite hard to work out whether to try and emulate them or try to do his own thing. I think he should try and do the latter, because then he'll be at his most comfortable. I'm also ok with the timing of some songs changing in the live arena ... it happens and I'd actually much rather songs played live find their own sound rather than being 100% the same as on record. Oh aye - Geoff seems a great person. I love the chemistry of the band at the moment. All five work so well on stage together, so they obviously get on well. I don't think you could watch Feeder live, and if you didn't know much about them, think it was technically just Grant and Taka who were Feeder. I agree about Geoff doing his own thing. I think it's different when you've got five musicians on a big stage, playing a set that doesn't change. Muse would be a good example here, and similar to Feeder. They play everything to click. It helps them 'lock in' to each other. Having played in a band (up to five-piece) myself with a drummer who'd speed up and change tempo, I can't imagine it being a problem for any one playing in Feeder, or most bands. I barely got by (as a keyboardist) and felt I was cheating people when they called me a "musician"! The drummer sets the tempo and that's what the other musicians go with. It seems to happen naturally based on my experience.

Meh will be 12 years and counting that Feeder last played my hometown of Aberdeen by my count then!
Hopefully they at least announce a Scottish date 'cos I didn't manage to go last tour. A few days space here and there for some further announcements?
