And we're off. As has been said on another thread, Bexhill kicked off the tour last night with a 19-song set containing 8 tracks from 'Torpedo', 2 serious deep cuts ('Radiation' and 'World Asleep') and only 4 "must plays" (although curiously, 'Buck Rogers' was kept at the expense of songs like 'Just a Day').
This looks better than any of us had predicted, so yay. 19 songs is relatively short for Feeder. I hope that if the set gets longer, it's by adding more deep cuts and not more hits. Fingers crossed.
Some videos!
'Born to Love You'...featuring yet another miscommunication between Grant and Geoff (see 2:48) :shrug emoji:
'Radiation'
'When It All Breaks Down'
'The Healing'
'Stereo World'
'Magpie'
Here's to the next one!

Oh dear.
'Stereo World' and 'Decompress' bumped.
'Radiation' and 'World Asleep' reduced to an either/or.
And another 'must play' goes back in.
Come on, boys.

It's disappointing that the Oxford show was already reduced and refamiliarized compared to Bexhill on Sea but even so, you look at that set and it's night and day compared to the same old sets we've been subjected to for years. I would have been seriously pleased to hear most of Torpedo and a few tracks that have basically never been played in over 20 years - that's unprecedented for Feeder. If I'd been at the Bexhill show I would have wet my pants and been the first raving about it on here. Shame I didn't get tickets for the tour but hopefully this time isn't just an exception but a new attitude that will shape setlists for years to come.

Hey, I'd love for them to be playing almost 30 songs - but do the Cure do that night after night with lots of travel time? I think being in a band can be more tiring than you might think, especially after 25 years of being committed to it non-stop. Plus tickets for these shows are what, around £30 or something? In this day and age that's pretty affordable and could well suggest roughly how many songs you could expect. These mega legendary shows with tons of tunes from epic bands also command higher prices - obviously it was in London in the biggest stadium in the country with a much bigger band, but I paid £50 to see the Foo's at Wembley way back in 2008. I'd love to know how much that would cost now All that being said, I'd love for the show to get longer, just by a few songs at least.

I think being in a band can be more tiring than you might think, especially after 25 years of being committed to it non-stop. I don't think that's true. Firstly, Feeder's last two London shows were 24 songs ( Roundhouse 2019) and 26 ( Brixton 2018). Secondly, a lot of older bands routinely play long shows. The Cure's been mentioned. My favourites, They Might Be Giants, regularly play 30 to 35 songs a night, even in club venues (they don't use a support band, and play two sets with a break in the middle). Bruce Springsteen regularly plays three-hours plus. Green Day's another. I saw '80s/'90s band Del Amitri last year and they played 24 every night. Last Smashing Pumpkins shows in the UK were 30 plus. Edit: Paul McCartney (who is 79 years old) just kicked off his US tour, playing 36 songs a night. I'm not saying that Feeder should. But 19 songs is not a huge set for a band of their age with a big back catalogue.

Agreed. They've got a day off today, then Southampton tomorrow. How they regroup could give us a good steer on the shape of the rest of the tour. Fingers crossed.

A few bits of info from last night's show: - Someone forgot to put the setlists out at the start, which caused an amusing mix up after the first song when CC started playing the wrong backing track!
- 17 songs was not the intended set list. It was 16! Buck Rogers & JAD were both down as a swap for the only encore song, but we got both.
- Magpie sounds really good live! And the whole band seemed to really enjoy playing Fear of Flying as the crowd were into it.
- Grant kept making it clear that they wanted to play new songs, but also throw in some really old stuff. Sounds like they are going heavier on this tour.
- The sound in the venue was a bit off. Instruments were really loud, vocals quiet - no fault of the band, think it's an Oxford thing.
We were stood next to the lighting desk, so could see all the songs they had listed for preset lighting. Others that were on there included Shade, Oxygen, Lost & Found, Stereo World, YWTS, Insomnia, Renegades. It was a bit of a mix, so some of those could make an appear later I guess. Overall despite the shorter setlist it was an enjoyable show and they still sounded as good as ever. I think they'll get some longer setlists in for some later dates, it's usually what happens.

I'm not saying that Feeder should. But 19 songs is not a huge set for a band of their age with a big back catalogue. I was at the Best of show in Birmingham which was only one song shorter than the awesome Brixton one, it was great, but definitely the longest show I've ever seen them play and I wouldn't say that was a new normal they'd strive to sustain. They were celebratory 'Best of' shows after all, meant to showcase moments from the band's entire career. I had no doubt that coming back down to normal shows they'd definitely be shorter. As for the rest, as I said Feeder aren't the big act like the others you've mentioned, as much as we'd like them to be. I mean Bruce Springsteen, Green Day and the Pumpkins are huge. They Might Be Giants are probably on a comparable level to Feeder but you've said yourself there that they don't use a support band and have a break. Feeder don't and probably won't do that. The Best of Tour had support acts as well. Just trying to be realist here. You might hold out hope for a band radically changing their practices if they were much younger but Feeder are pretty stuck in their ways. Still, I was fairly wrong about the set drastically changing so you never know!

First night of Tallulah Tour in Portsmouth - 19 songs Second night in Exeter - 16 songs... although I think they had technical issues that night.
However by the time they got to Nottingham - 24 songs... just putting that out there. Fingers crossed as I'll be in Nottingham.
Then London of course got 25!
