gah. so we have the basic package with sky telly. in an attempt to make us think "oo look at all the things we're missing out on, lets pay mr murdoch an extra £17-£30 per month" sky gave us a 2 week free "upgrade" with access to all the sports and movies channels as well as the other channels not included in our subscription (like the kids ones, lifestyle etc). great we thought, stace & i can catch some rugby and football respectively and even better we can sky+ any films we want to catch to wach at our convenience (bearing in mind stace has been away some of the time, we've had guests and lindsey and i work late, so not all been together in film-watching mood much recently). rant number 1 - our 2 week upgrade started on a monday, so should have finished last night (sunday). it didn't, it stopped sometime (we think) on friday. we're not sure exactly when it fisnsihed 'cos it didn't stop us recording channels we no longer had, it apparently is happy to let you record the "upgrade now on this number" screen rant number 2 - last night we thought "oh we'll stick one of the 9 films we've recorded on, as we're all in". only to discover that we cannot frigging watch them after the free upgrade has run out all we get is the bloody "subscribe on this number" screen. why don't they bloody well tell you this? we'd have made sure we'd watch them during our upgrade, or better yet transfered them onto dvd/video. not happy

I hate Mr Murdock, sky are always trying to extract more money from it's customers. Thing is, there aren't any other companys that offer the same thing which don't try to do that...

why don't they bloody well tell you this? Because now you know what you're missing don't you want it more? No. I want to avoid it and get Chlo to get dvd's free from the library now. Though i would like sky sports (but only because it's only way i can get rugby)

I'm going to quote a line from The Real Hustle "If somethings sounds to good to true it probably is".
Read the small print...

we did it said nothing anywhere about not being able to watch programmes recorded on channels afterwards. thats precisely the point, if the small print HAD told us that, we'd have put them onto dvd or video while we still had access to the channels.

*edits post* It was meant as a joke. Did you ask them about compensating you for the two days you they actually owe you?

This isn't actually about Sky,I don't subscribe but I have a Sky box, which I bought on Ebay from a private seller, I have had it for about a year, then yesterday I got a call from someone claiming to be from Sky, to tell me my Sky box breakdown cover had expired, and I need to renew it, £65 for 1 year or £150 for 3 years. I was like "What, I don't have cover, the whole box only cost £20,why would I get breakdown cover. It would appear to be a scam, as the same man called again the next day, I repeated what I said the day before, to which he replied,"Oh, I can't be arsed with it" Not the words of a genuine salesman, I thought.
