First the washing machine corked it, then the kettle followed suit; the new boiler went t*ts up and the fridge -freezer's now either ice-bound or defrosting itself; and now the cooker's decided only 1 of its rings will work and the oven now either gets slightly warm or burns everything to a crisp depending on how it's feeling, and the telly's buggered.
I give up.

come and stay here for a bit!! we have lots of lovely italian food from Eli we can make! Don't tempt me... I wouldn't want me anywhere near if I was you 'cos I've obviously got some kind of electrical-appliance-curse, probably thrust upon me by someone from Currys when I declined their Extended Warranty package when buying a lightbulb and vacuum cleaner bags 10 years ago.

Yeah I think Curry's obviously put some kind of voodoo curse on you. "OK, so you don't want an extended warranty? Here, have a lifetime's worth of bad appliance karma instead!" The evil rotten stinkin' bastards. You should go into their damn store and give them SUCH a look.

Hahaha. This conversation is funny. But yes, I hate it when things go tits up. Argh! It's always technology you rely on that breaks, isn't it?

Mmmmmmmmm...cakey. I laugh in the face of these things rather than giving up, perhaps that's just my coping mechanism. I had one of these weeks recently too; my car broke down on the way to the final match of the season at Stoke City (but thanks to a lift I made it to the match and they got promoted), my bike also knackered, and as I had no car I couldn't take my bike to be fixed. Then my car got vandalised causing £150+ repairs (and it's just not nice when these things happen). Next my TV broke and required a replacement. I had my car fixed and missed most of a gig when I got stuck in a traffic jam (though this did result in a couple of excellent photos). On the way back from the gig my car stereo stopped working! Then when I got home there was no sound from my home stereo. I messed about with it, disconnected everything, reconnected, still nothing. Then I noticed the headphone jack had been accidentally pushed in. D'oh! I must have been becoming paranoid at this point. The next few times I went out in my car I was stuck in traffic and/or needed big diversions due to road closures. Although this was well annoying and weird I considered myself potentially lucky on these occasions as the closures were due to accidents and it could have been me if I was a few minutes earlier. My next job was to accidentally delete a load of important information from a database at work. There were a couple of other dodgy things I can't remember at the moment, but I still think you win; all those kitchen appliances at once is slightly kkrazy.

I have an amazing ability to break electrical equipment, I'm sure it's because they x-rayed my mum when she was pregnant.

I'm convinced that all electrical equipment has a chip or some computery thing inside it that sets off a self destruct sequence on the very day your Guarantee expires....so then that annoying person on the phone at Sony or where ever can go "Oooo sorry...your product guarantee expired today....tough break...so if you want us to fix it you'll have to pay off the national debt in service charges..."

This all sounds terribly expensive.
I'm sure amish people don't have these problems, therein may lie your answer!

Nah, their horses probably get PMS or Raging Stallion Syndrome and don't cooperate or something... As well as all the weather related variables - all the firewood's wet? Too bad!
