Weird title, yes. But it's not really my point. I just watched Coldplay perform some songs outside the BBC studios, and even though they could have only played about 7 songs, it looked absolutely amazing. The guys performed Yellow on a tiny stage with only one microphone and a handful of instruments, and played a new song, Lovers in Japan, whereupon they released lots of red, white and blue bits of paper into the crowd. Did the paper cost a lot? Probably not. But the overall effect was stunning. Which leads me onto my point. Although, of course, I love Feeder dearly, and their songs are amazing, I have never really thought, as a live band, they've ever really done much unusual stuff. Don't get me wrong, sound-wise they are wonderful... But I remember vaguely seeing them during Comfort in Sound and they had a curtain surrounding the stage during Come Back Around, and removed it after the song (to great applause!). They've also used videos on the backdrop etc in the past, to (what I think is) great effect. Basically, I think what I really want from Feeder is more stage presence and personality... Like I said, sound-wise they are amazing... But I'd like to hear Grant say more, or I'd like them to do another crazy curtain thing, or chuck paper into the crowd. No, these tricks don't make a better band, but they certainly make a gig more memborable for the crowd. I don't think I am very good getting my point across, and I'm sure some of you guys probably disagree with everything I'm saying here. But I was just wondering, would you guys want anymore from Feeder when you see them live?

i think Grant is getting better at the interaction/chat/banter with the crowd thing - he seemed more comfortable with that at brighton and was interacting a lot more.
i LOVED the mini camera thing they did in the march 2005 tour - they each had a mini camera near them (mark had one on his kit, think Grant, taka, dean had them on mikes) and they used the footgage for the video backdrop in a couple of tracks - that was really cool, and Mark in particular really made the most of it. in fact i seem to remember vid back drops as a whole being really good that year. something to congratulate mark video on....
i know what you mean, i'm hoping they have some tricks and stuff in the october tour.
thing you have to remember with bands like coldplay though, that with touring arenas and stadiums these days they kind of have to find little quirks and stuff 'cos on the bigger show they need it. so from that they're used to doing it, whereas Feeder aren't (if that makes sense?)

There was a lot more banter on that last tour (well If the Glasgow show was anything to go by) and Grant did crack quite a few jokes in between performances, so maybe we are gonna see more of this kind of thing in the future. Oh and to the statement Coldplay aren't that bad I would wholeheartedly agree - but then I would also say they aren't that good either - although I do own all their albums

I love some of Coldplay's songs and I'm sure I would not dislike their albums, but there's no comparison with Feeder. I agree they should be a bit more creative in their live performances, though

i think banter is a lot easier in the smaller venues like on the last tour. he was having a laugh with the crowd at all the gigs i went to i really love most of their backdrop vids (was sooooo glad to see the return of the ballroom dancing one for jtwif, even if it was only at brum!)... but does anyone remember that awful pilgrim soul one with the lyrics? ugh, that was just embarrassing!

Phew I have to say I'm pretty glad you guys agree!! I honestly love them but think they could do so much more live. Even a bit of neon lighting But I am loving the Grant banter. I'd love to hear a few limericks or dirty jokes from Taka though. Bet he's got some great ones.

Coldplay played and looked great the other day....the ywill sell more due to the huge amount of promotion they get and cause they write great songs Feeder used to have great visuals....lacked recently but the real tour will be greatly improved I am guessing. Especially with so many dates...it makes sence

oh, i like the way Feeder do their shows. When i go to see Feeder i feel like i'm seeing a band do what they enjoy, and simply. When i go to see a band like Muse or 30STM i go to see a show, a spectacle, 'cos thats what they do best. It just the different way bands do things. I cant imagine for a moment Feeder releasing confetti into the crowd or having pyrotechnics or massive balloons etc, its just not them. I think if they did do that i'd feel a bit embarrassed for them. They dont need gimmicks like that. The backdrops and videos are all they need along with the banter. Feeder make you feel a part of their show with the way Grant interacts with the crowd. you dont get that with a lot of bands who go for flashy effects. Good original music played by a fantastic and friendly band in a nice and simple setting, thats a Feeder gig for me.
oh and Coldplay are shitty poo.

Their music is alright I guess, but I agree with what Pete said. People buy it because it's Coldplay, not because it's good.

(no offence to coldplay fans..) I'm a bit surprised with the whole Coldplay number one (well they've been knocked off by neyo or whoever it was apparantley now) Their latest song released (it goes: if you looooove me wont you let me know...lala) is so flat, i was waiting for a big chorus or something when i heard it!!
