so essentially you want them to give you £7 cash and you give them back the £10 voucher?! What's the point of that, you're actually going to get less at the end of the day. You're bound to need to use a train again at some point.

Yeah i do actually.
The point is i don't want to use Virgin Trains ever again and by giving me a voucher they are forcing me to use them again.
It may seem stupid to you but this is my way of thinking.

It may seem stupid to you but this is my way of thinking. if you don't want to use it, sell it on to someone who might? bound to be a fellow student who'll be using trains at some point! then you have a tenner rather than £7.

You have to remember that you made use of a train journey that, at the cheapest, should've cost you £10. They've refunded your extra ticket price *and* given a voucher for the price of the fare that you actually consumed anyway.
So, as I said, they've already been more than generous with you.
