Aghhhh
I keep all my music on my external hard drive (to keep space free on my computer) and currently have thousands of songs on it - I just plugged my Ipod into the computer to charge it up but had forgotten to turn my hard drive on - then I got a message basically saying I tunes couldn't find the songs - fair enough
Then I turned on my hard drive and it still wouldn't find them - this really really really pissed me off as now I have to get Itunes to add all my songs from the hard drive again - and then the Ipod will have to be completely re-updated
Seriously why does it erase all record of where the songs are when it can't find them once!!!
And added to that while it is adding the songs right now it is periodically going from the internet while I'm typing here to Itunes which is really disconcerting while your typing
I hate computers sometimes

Did you not accidentally click yes when it was on about being connected to a different library? I thought that was pretty much the only way you can wipe it.

It's not wiped it, it's because the "iTunes library" file that iTunes tries to read will be on the Hard Drive with the music... The library file should be a small file that's basically a list of songs that iTunes reads with details on where to find them... If you can find the 'library' file and open it up again it'll be restored without having to re-add everything.

WTF? More my own idiocy rather than iTunes, but I was wondering why my iTunes was scrolling so much faster and then it hit me; I'd accidentally deleted all albums from E to P! Now I have to reimport them, get the album art again, rate them again ...pooooo...
