Hi Everyone! Hope all is good here. Long time no speak
I am doing a research project on Live Music, and how it is becoming a performance and a show rather than, come on play and leave.
I have to use three case studies, and i'm hoping to use Feeder, Take That and The Sunshine Underground(that one may change)
My tutor has suggested I try and chat to each band that I use, bar Take That obviously. So, as stupid as this sounds does anyone think i'd be able to get a 10 min chat with any of the lads, or am I going totally out of my depth?
I also need to find old articles and chat to fans about what they think about live music and how Feeder's performances have changed over the years.
Any help anyone can give me would be greatly apprciated.
Katie

whilst I love seeing Feeder live, I can't help but feel there are countless bands out there that put on more of a performance / show than Feeder do live. What about Muse? What about U2? What about Queen? Obviously these are gonna be difficult to interview, but they are better examples of bands that do a show, rather than just play live, which is what Feeder really do. Sure they move around a little bit and have nice lights and the odd video in the background (although not so much recently), but it's pales in comparison to those bands above.

That's a good point, but Take That would fit into that category. Perhaps it's worth finding a smaller band who you could have access to who do make a big effort with the show, rather than just the live performance. I'm struggling to think of anyone myself at the moment...British Sea Power do some different stuff at times. If you haven't already it's worth contacting Take That's management and mentioning your uni-project - the worst they can do is not respond or say no! You could mention that a couple of questions via e-mail wouldn't take much of their time...
Having first seen Feeder in 2000, I'm not sure their live performances have changed much since then - they probably just move around the stage less and there have been the occasional backdrops. For those lucky enough to see them in the early days, there were the boiler suits of course.
And in your 'chat to fans' category I'm happy to answer any questions you might have if it helps.

The show's changed a bit from a technical side, but that's primarily down to budget. The light show for the CiS tour was spectacular compared to what's going on now...

Hey guys! Thank you for your responses, they have been really useful, i've just been so busy as to reply to them. Pete, basically I am using Feeder as a casestudy as I've always wanted to actually write something on them, and this is a perfect oppourtunity. Also the live tour has fallen in perfect time with my project. Thank you Ben, I will contact Taka over twitter, I hope he will be interested in what I am doing. I'm really excited to get started on all of this. Basically for now, I'm going to create a short questionnaire which I will ask some people to fill out. Thank You
