Hi Hope everyone is enjoying the festive holidays! I wanted to post a question on this forum for some feedback / comments. I used to listen to Feeder a lot back in about 2008/9 and went to see them a couple of times. In fact I must have joined this forum then because I already had an account which I'd forgotten about. Ha!!. Anyway.. I went to see Soulwax at Manchester Academy the other night. They were awesome. Again, I'd forgotten how good they are and how much I liked them. My friend lent me their Much Against Everyone's Advice CD at around the same time as I started to listen to Feeder and I loved it. I'm sure this will have been mentioned before if there's a 'sounds like section' but can someone tell me which Feeder track the song Much Against Everyone's Advice sounds like? Is it Come Back Around? Or it could be a mix of more than one. It's so similar (to my ears especially on the chorus) that it could be Grant singing it! A Feeder / Soulwax double bill. What a gig that would be. youtu.be/MmMOE9zc7qwThanks.

Welcome!
I've never listened to Soulwax before (though I think I caught 2manydjs at Reading Fest once?!) but I can see what you mean about that song and similarities to Feeder. I like it!
I can't quite nail down a particular song that it sounds like, but the thrashy guitar line does remind me of Come Back Around - and also Crash? The singer's vocals in general remind me of somebody else more... possibly Mansun?

There is a Feeder-esque riff in there, but I can't place it to a particular song.
I've heard the Day in Day Out riff in 4 or 5 other songs.
I didn't realise Soulwax were still around. I'm about to listen to their recent singles...

A Feeder / Soulwax double bill. What a gig that would be. Definitely! Things got close back in 2000. I saw them back to back. That summer was the height of my Feeder fan boy period. I'd seen Feeder for the first time at Brixton Academy late in 1999 – the last show of the YWTS tour. I was at Glastonbury and they were on mid afternoon on the second stage. Right at the start of the day, my girlfriend and I fought our way to the front. We stood through the other bands, including Toploader (remember them?) and a pretty minor band a week away from releasing their debut album... Coldplay. Anyhoo, Soulwax were on immediately before Feeder. Same era as that video: same suits and guitars. They were incredible. So were Feeder (I remember they played everything I wanted to hear – Day In Day Out, Cement, My Perfect Day, Insomnia, High, YWTS – plus a couple of new songs from 'Echo Park', which they were recording at the time... Oxygen and Bug (then called Revolution). That was my favourite Glastonbury. I haven't listened to Soulwax in years. Time to start again! Thanks for the memory jog!

I've heard the Day in Day Out riff in 4 or 5 other songs. And a couple of days later, here's another one to add to the list. Nowhere near one of the closest I've heard, but it's still rather DiDO-esque: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwWyX3m0okQ
