As a couple of you may know, I was almost silly enough to get caught up in a scam surrounding a car on t'interweb the other week... I was looking to buy a Honda Civic, when I saw a new shape one for just under £3k on auto trader... Needless to say I started emailing the seller and when it became apparent it was a massive scam (The words "eBay protection plan" were used) I ceased all contact immediately. End o story... Or so I thought. Had an email this morning from Sussex Police force saying that *I'D* apparently been scamming someone from my eBay account?! Double checked the phone number on the website (Not getting caught out again!) and spoke to the guy who sent me the email... Apparently someone went through with the whole transaction and lost about £3k attempting to buy a Smart Car It seems like someone's set up an email account in my name and been trying to flog a couple of "cars" that don't actually exist... I mean... Bloody hell... There's no limit to the depths some people will stoop is there?

Basterds!!! Some hassle for ya, Did they send the emails through your own account? (like hack your account), or just set up a new account. Handiest thing to do I find is hav a spam email account, that doesnt have my name it it for when I give out my email address or email someone that might be dodgy

That really sucks.....
Only scams i get are those "Dear Sir My name Is Prudence Goodwill I am a Ugandan Student and have just lost my parents. They have left me $92,000 but my accountant says i must transfer it to a foreign bank account as soon as possible to avoid my government taking it away from me.....blah blah blah..."
I'm so sorry to hear you've been done over in that way......i hope to hell they get the bastards and lock them away for a long time....

I've not really been done out of anything, but I feel sorry for the woman who has They just made a fake email address, got together a fake eBay template and put my username in, with links to my profile etc so it looks legit... Explained everything to the police fella so I think I'm ok... Proper p'd off though, it seems to be a new one going round.. I mean, you see a car on Auto Trader and you think it's genuine... Pain in the rear!
