Hi all,
My parents are planning to spend a week or so in the UK. They're not sure yet to where they want to go, so I thought, hey, let's ask you guys if you know some good places to spend a holiday. They've already been to Cornwall, Devon and London.
Thanks, Patrick

North Yorkshire. Although it's generally a bit rainy, the landscape and countryside is stunning Definitely worth checking out the Lake District too in the North West!

What do they want from the holiday?

Well, they want to actually see the country they visit, not just sit down and read a book or something. So they would probably go for walks and visit old towns and things like that and they like to enjoy the beautiful countryside. In short, they're the active kind of tourists Which is why Craigo's suggestion seems like a good one. That would be something they might really enjoy, so thanks for that, Craigo! But of course, more suggestions are always welcome... My parents mentioned Wales as well, but don't really know if there's anything worth visiting there (to be honest, that was my suggestion rather than my parent's. I'm a Feeder fan after all )

From your description, I would say either the Lake District or somewhere in Wales sound ideal for what they're looking for .

Thanks a lot all of you! Travelling magazines are good, but its better to ask the people that are actually from the country itself

Will they have their own car? Edinburgh is a great city, and within reach (about 2-3 hour drive) of the Scottish Highlands, which are stunning. It's even closer to the Trossachs. If they wanted to get out into the wilderness a bit, the Hebrides islands off Scotland, like Skye, Lewis and Harris are amazing. There are plenty of places to see in Wales, one of my favourite ever holidays was in South Wales. Wales is actually the only country in the world to have a path around the whole of its coastline! Pembrokeshire is a nice county, and Snowdonia has some spectacular scenery. I love the Brecon Beacons too. The Gower Peninsula near to Swansea has some cracking views... And there are great coastal views like this: The Yorkshire Dales are also stunning, with waterfalls all over the place. Northumberland has a spectacular coastline and a couple of cool castles. There's more; pretty much wherever they go they'll find something to see. I hope I haven't given you too many options...

You should! North Wales has some great places too. Here's a guy wearing a Silent Cry t-shirt at the top of Mt. Snowdon:

I've seen that photograph already, years ago ;D. Can't remember where I saw it, but it wasn't holeinmyhead. I remember, because the guy on the photo has got the same T-shirt as I have! Nice landscape though!
Anyway, North Wales it is, then. And I'm coming too!
