I finished my opera singer book now. The options are a) read a book I got for Christmas by Melina Marchetta (who I hate because she wrote Looking For Alibrandi and it was bad) about some whining bitch because that's what all Melina Marchetta books are about, or b) find another book...maybe Dad has another unrealistic crime novel.

I'm reading 'Zorro' by Isabel Allende.
Honestly I couldn't care less about the legend of Zorro , but she's my favourite writer and I was curious....But the book is so amazing!! Awesome plot!!
Oh, and last week I also read 'Reunion' by Uhlman and Stefani Benni's 'Prima o poi l'amore arriva'.

I'm reading ''Buried'' by Mark Billingham. It's about a boy who has been kidnapped but the parents didn't report him missing immediately to the police which has posed the question 'why?' There is clearly more to the kidnapping than the parents are letting on. Haven't got very far but I've read his books before and I've enjoyed them.

I've just finished We Need To Talk About Kevin, by Lionel Shriver (actually a woman, despite the name!). The Kevin of the title killed nine people at his high school, and the book is his mother telling the story of his life. It's a work of fiction, but it could all too easily be true. It's a fantastic book - disturbing, sad, but brilliantly written.

I recently read Ninteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult (my favourite authour) - it's also about a high school shooting but from a slightly different angle, brilliant and thought-provoking stuff.

It's a fantastic book - disturbing, sad, but brilliantly written. i picked that up in oxfam the other week and then put it back 'cos i already had a pile of 9 books in the office to buy.... it's on my to-buy-at-some-point list. i currently have a pile of 26 books to work through..... just finished the latest in the "ladies detective agency" series by Alexander Macall-Smith 'the good husband of zebra drive' (they're awesome books) and i've just started 'the stone monkey' by jeffrey deaver - he's the guy who wrote 'the bone collector', you may've heard of the film. i read that on holiday & loved it so i'm reasding a few more of the lincoln rhyme series.

realised we don't have a books/what are you reading thread and might be a good idea to make recommendations etc. i'm currently reading this: anyway, I've nearly finished it, and will need something else to read soon - so suggestions please! Sorry, only just noticed this thread I have read most of John Grishams novels from The Pelican Brief to The Painted Cottage. he is a brilliant author. and you get to learn a bit about law too. A book I enjoyed reading was The Beach, IMO much better than the film of the same name. Also an autobiography from Bob Geldof, called 'Is That It', written before he married Paula Yates.
