realised we don't have a books/what are you reading thread and might be a good idea to make recommendations etc. i'm currently reading this: its a true-crime, about a guy called Ron Williamson who was wrongly convicted of raping and murdering a girl in the 80s. he was in prison for 11 years and only 5 days away from execution, before he was given a stay, and he and another innocent man also wrongly convicted were cleared on DNA evidence. its a fascinating and horrifying read - its outrageous how these - (and 2 other men from the same town, accused of a different murder) were convicted on what was at best circumstantial evidence. highly recommend it. anyway, I've nearly finished it, and will need something else to read soon - so suggestions please!

The Last Party... It's fantastic.. All about the Rise and Fall of Britpop, focuses on different bands as they rise and fall, it's a great read... Either that, or Scar Tissue (Anthony Kiedis' autobiography)... Heartrending, touching, sometimes disturbing, and sometimes downright weird, it really is a book that people should have read... (Oh, and I'm currently reading "Mastering Audio - the art and the science". Joy of joys )

hah you techy you i've read Scar Tissue - i agree, its a fab read. i found it a tad surprising - i knew anthony had done a lot of drugs, but i didn't realise quite how many he'd done, or that it had been quite so recent. i love the stories about keith moon and cher though

I'm reading Marley & Me: Life and Love with the worlds worst dog.

Yeah, not sure where the penguin thing came from actually! I've been recording that Penguin week, going to watch it all at the weekend!
I'm ok, a lot less stressed than I was at the beginning of the week!

I'm still reading Strange Highways by Dean Koontz. It's one average sized story and the 11/12 short stories. It's a bit odd, some are really good others are just pointless.

I announce I definitely renounced to finish to read "The Da Vinci Code" : I started last May; it didn't hook me, but I was forcing myself to finish it...
Now...I give up!!
I'm not reading anything at the moment: I'd want to see if Santa will bring me the latest Patricia Cornwell and Isabelle Allende books before buying them....

Sidetracked by Henning Mankell.
If you're into crime fiction and have "run out" of authors, I thoroughly recommend this chap. Mankell writes about a detective called Kurt Wallender, and he's become known as the Swedish Morse, although personally I think the books are much better then Morse. If you like Rankin and Rebus, Cornwell and Scarpetta, and Patterson and Cross, I think you'll like this chap.
