i wish work would bloody well sort this vacancy malarkey out. first they say "we don't know whether its going to be a LA post (what i am now) or a Senior LA post (grade above, which I'll be interested in going for) Then they decide it IS a senior post which " could be an internal vacancy or be a redeployment" Then 3 weeks ago the manager says it will [you]DEFINITELY[/you] be an internal vacancy that i can apply for, advert will be on intranet by end of the week, closing date 18th Feb, interviews end of Feb. Said advert is yet to appear, and now they turn round and say 'ooh actually HR are insisting it has to be a redeployment and not internal, and if it could be internal it would only be a 6 month contract but we're arguing about it so I'll let you know for sure......" a week on from that information there's still nothing concrete... fucks sake either its redeployment or it isn't - don't bloody tell us its a definite internal vacancy if it's not going to be. apart from the fact redeployment is an absolute joke for a senior post anyway and going to cause us no end of hassle if we get Joe Bloggs the parking attendant in the job, it takes the mick to tell interested staff there's a full time post becoming available and then turn round and say actually its not (especially when initially we weren't expecting it to be available in the first place...) AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH the joys of the public sector - and i know it's unlikely to improve. i wonder how long before I'm completely fed up and job hunting again job itself is good, people i work with are in general great and apart from the odd freak i get on with the public well. its all the blooming politics and budgets and the fact everything is a struggle which i hate.

Come on Expedia ... you can do better than this.
Clearly, the volcanic ash problem is causing mass chaos, but you could make the problems so much less stressful.
We booked a package with them. The flight was cancelled and under their T&Cs that means we can have a full refund (hotel and flights). HOWEVER, to get that process started, we have to phone them.
So far, we have tried calling at 1am, 9am and 5pm ... each time, we've given up after over half an hour of listening to some VERY VERY BAD hold music (it's a ditty that's about 10 seconds long followed by a "sorry, we're busy" statement, but quite often doesn't play properly).
I called their sales line, fully expecting they'd answer that ... they did, after 2 minutes. They tell me that they can do nothing and that I have to call the customer services line.
After a while, he says ... "I'll just check the current wait time" ... puts me back on hold for 4 minutes ... then comes back and says "there are 198 people on hold and the average wait time is 2 hours and 15 minutes" !!!!!
Why don't they tell us this on their website ? Why don't they tell us this as a message when we phone ? Why can't we e-mail in our request for a refund to avoid this nightmare?! Why is their statement on these problems last updated on 16th April?! Why can't they cross reference flight cancellations and bookings and start the refund processes themselves ?
I mean seriously, I understand the problems this must be causing them and the fact that no company likes giving refunds, but come on, think about the poor customer here. We just want to know that we will get our money back and know that the process to do that has started. Clearly we'd like to get that kicked off asap ... as there's a fear we may never get our money back if we don't start the process now! They don't even say how long we have to launch a refund claim!!?

*frustrated and depressed at missing out on a holiday* I know. We missed out on Rome We'll go some other time but i could really have done with a few days away right now. Been a hectic 6 months or so. Thankfully, Coop Travel are dealing with our refund stuff. Jet2 automatically refunded the flight money, which wasn't much and Coop are liasing with the travel co. to sort refunds for accomodation etc. So we're just wait to hear from them. So glad we don't have to fanny about on hold forever to get it sorted.

Oh for fucks sake.
I'm sick to death of hearing people whinging about having to do their job. My boss wants me and another girl to do a training course so we ask the man who deals with booking training to sort it and all we get is "why do you have to do it? I don't understand" and "i don't see why the company should pay for it". Well, you're not paid to see why the company should pay, you're paid to book it. And the classic "well if you know when you're free why don't you book it yourselves?". Errr because it's YOUR JOB! I'm already doing stuff for him this week that he "didn't have time to do". Maybe i should pay his wage into my account next week for doing all this stuff for him! Twat.
And he's the only person in the company who complains about people going on holiday. We're a small co. and if someone goes on hols we share out that person's work knowing full well that they'll do the same for us. But not him oh no, he whinges about doing his own work nevermind helping out with other peoples.
If the boss rings me tomorrow and asks if it's done i'm grassing him up.

FUCK YOU PLAY DOT FUCKING COM.
Pre-ordered the new We Are Scientists album the best part of a month ago, and found out TODAY that they have none in stock, despite as of LAST WEEK it said I'd preordered and was fine. When are they getting more in? TWO BASTARD WEEKS.
What was the point in me pre-ordering if I wasn't going to get it today? Absolutely fuck all point, that's what. Just spent 20 minutes on the phone to their "customer service" line, where I had some woman with an appallingly thick accent that I couldn't understand talking to me about "Raising this issue for the future" No love, I want some fucking recompense for this now. I've waited 2 years for this album, and I can't listen to it today because of your company's bloody incompetence.
Pricks.

Orange Broadband .... not so much a rant, but a victory dance!
Earlier today
Me : Hello, I've moved house and I don't want Broadband with Orange at the new place Orange : OK, that's not a problem, you just need to pay £25.85 as a cancellation fee Me : Errr, what?! You've given me broadband for free for the last 4 years ''cos I have a mobile with you and yet you want me to pay £26 to stop the service?! Orange : Yes, it's in your T&Cs Me : This makes no sense, is there a fee for moving the service with Orange to my new house? Orange : No Me : OK, I'll need to check if I can cancel my new provider, I will call you back ...
Me ponder for a while ... decide to still cancel as service with Orange kept crashing and new provider (Sky) stuff is already in process. So I call them back
Me : Hi, I'd like to confirm my cancellation Orange : OK, you are aware that there's a 30 day notice period and £25.85 cancellation fee to pay Me : Yes ... as for the 30 days, I'm not bothered if you continue to provide the service for 30 days, as I've already moved out
LISTENS TO HOLD MUSIC FOR A FEW MINUTES
Orange : OK, that's all done for you, thanks, bye Me : Errr, sorry, what about the payment ? Orange : We'll just take it from your direct debit Me : But I don't have one, ''cos it's always been free due to having a mobile contract Orange : Oh! Let me just check
BACK TO THE HOLD MUSIC
Orange : OK, we've decided to waive the fee as you've never had to pay for broadband! Me : Oh! When I called earlier you guys were adamant that I had to pay the fee?! Orange : Well I'm sorry about that Me : Don't be sorry, I was pissed off that I had to pay in the first place, so now I don't, so I'm happy! Orange : No probs ... enjoy your new home!
Yay ... I win in the end. It just goes to show ... you should always question silly fees!

Homebase ... what a shower of shit ...
Order made 27th June. It said "someone will phone you to arrange the order". I'd given my mobile as a contact number.
Having received no call, I called them. They claim my mobile doesn't work and that they called on Wednesday. Maybe I was on the underground?! Maybe I was out of signal?! Why didn't they leave a message?!
Anyway ... I have no arranged for delivery, but they can't do it until the 9th July! That's a further week away.
Won't be using these lot again ...

completely fed up of looking for a new flat in london. fair, my budget isn't particularly amazing, but i'm getting sick of scammers and people who do not phone you back! in a week of looking i have been fobbed off by three potential landlords, had two scammers, looked around one flat which turned out to be agency and i can't get in to a fixed term contract as i'd be moving out in two months.
side rant - fuck you enterprise inns. you've taken my job and my home already so can you please stop sending in your screwlines wankers to see if we've been overselling beer. yes, yes we fcking have. i will quite happily provide you with our delivery notes from the 'other' brewery, the one who aren't shafting us over a fucking barrel (puns are fun!)
FUCK ENTERPRISE INNS.

What is the point in texting me to ask what time i'm free for you to ring me if you're gonna damn well ignore me? 2pm is not this evening is it? NO!
And why are you asking me for the flight times and baggage allowance again? I've told you a thousand times what they are, i know your memory is shit, but there's shit and there's taking the piss.
I do actually have a job and things to do myself...i don't have time to sit and chat about the same things every fooking day!

Fucking hell, I really can't stand my parents anymore.
They're always conplaining about the fact that I don't have a job, that my car is old and I should buy another (wtf, it is 8 years old, it is a Renault Clio from 2002 and it goes perfectly|I bought it no more than 9 months ago because I had no money to allow something better. Did they help me to buy a better car at the time? FUCKING NO! Now where should I find the money to buy a new one which is good enough to please them?). Hence this is why I should get a job in their opinion. Well, the fact is that I'mstudying 10 hours a day for my exams, I've got 5 exams to do. 5. And each one consists of a minimum of a 900 pages book to study, and they want me to fucking get a fucking job while I'm gonna study the whole summer for those exams still 10 hours a day. What should I do, stop sleeping or something like that? They always go like: "ah studying is not such a big problem, it's easy and RELAXING." FUCKING HELL, they both stopped going to school at 11, WHAT THE FUCK DO THEY KNOW ABOUT IT? I'm attending the hardest university in Italy an they keep asking me more than what I am already doing. I wish they tried to concentrate on a book for more than 10 minutes and see the results. They've only worked in their lives, they've never really studied, what do they know about it? Instead I've both worked and studied while I still had the possibility, so I perfectly know that studying is way worse than working. At least you get some money out of it. I'm studying to contruct a better future for myself, I'm fed up of people trying to prevent me from doing what I want. My life is only MINE, I DECIDE. Not them.

Man that's annoying!
At my old house, I was on Orange Broadband which was a service I got for free as a result of having a Orange Mobile Phone. It wasn't a great service and would crash a couple of times a day and have to restart.
When we moved house, I took up Sky Broadband, paying £5 a month, which wasn't too bad. I've now had to move to Sky Unlimited 'cos I've gone over the download limit twice. This means paying £12.50 a month!
Apparently on the Orange deal I had 10GB a month download limit, but on the original Sky package I only had 2GB, so no wonder I was going over.
I just called Orange to see if I could move back and they now tell me that they don't do free broadband any more. So it looks like I'm stuck paying for a service that I used to get for free.
Just something I'll have to get used to I reckon, still doesn't make it any less annoying though.

Pete... isn't Sky Unlimited still limited to 40GB/month? Makes no sense but check the small print.
It's ALWAYS subject to fair usage policy, too.

I think Sky ditched their fair usage policy a while back.....so, their unlimited plan is actually one of the few that is truly unlimited. Their 40gb package is the one you get if you live out in the sticks.
