i have suddenly realised that next month (July 28th to be exact) is our very own Taka's birthday. He is going to be 40. As we got Mark something earlier this year, and gave Grant the photo album last November for his birthday, i think it would be really good if we can also acknowledge Taka's birthday - especially as its a bit of a landmark. But i'm stuck for ideas of what to do/get him - so thoughts/ideas/suggestions please! Only inspiration i have so far is a proper yorkshire flatcap, as he seems to have adopted yorkshire as his current abode. more suggestions needed though

as it's his 40th, surely he needs a pipe and some slippers?

Were you thinking of presenting Taka with his birthday gifts at the Redbourn gig, albeit a little late, or sending them to him. I would like to see his face if he opened a present containing a pair of bass shaped deeley boppers, or spring loaded trainers.

no idea, i'm so disorganised with this! only prob with doing it at redbourn is you're reliant on being able to attract one of the crew at the end to pass a parcel on - we managed it at ponty with mark last year but its not always easy. 'cos unless there's a signing tent (unlikely) the only way of getting stuff to band is via crew.

He was walking round the ground at the Ripcurl gig, with his kids. I managed to get a photo with him just before he went back stage. bit too much to hope he would be doing that again, i s'pose. We could always stuff everything inside one of my huge balloons and throw it on the stage..... No, forget that idea, probably damage something, knowing my luck.

Was thinking of a pogo stick too + a pair of wacky glasses or maybe we should just send him some bubble wrap? ;D

Dammit I was just about to suggest a Pogo Stick! >.<
I thought I had a good idea there!
How about some new springs for his shoes instead?

How about some new springs for his shoes instead? I suggested those. As for delivering the presents; We could always hope that the person who wins the comp for the backstage pass, is off here, then they can do it. If i win, i will gladly pass them on
