What an amazing end to the race that was. With 3 corners to go, Hamilton wasn't world champion and the Ferrari team were celebrating. On the penultimate corner Hamilton made up a place and no one really knew what was happening, but he was world champion.
I'd stopped watching Formula one in recent years but I have seen come cracking races this year.

That was the most thrilling end to a championship I have ever seen. I've never known a championship to be won in the final 2 corners before. Amazing. And I concur, I never really go onto that ranting thread... and this particular topic is far from a rant

Lewis Hamilton's a legend. And that was probably the best finale I've ever seen in Formula 1 before.
The best bit was seeing the faces of the Ferrari pit-crew who were celebrating wildly one minute, then, live on camera, we're told Hamilton had overtaken Glock on the penultimate corner. Priceless!

Haha same here...but then when I saw Massa go through such a mixture of emotions I did feel sorry for the guy. He's a good sportsman, unlike Alonso, and he's had a hell of a season.

It's probably just that whole 'other people's misfortune is funny' thing it might well be ... but isn't that a very cruel human emotion ? I thought Massa handled things very well. I hope he gets to win the championship one year, he deserves to. He is, afterall, the 2nd driver at Ferrari, so he doesn't always get all the breaks that Raikkonen does and this year, he outclassed Kimi completely.

It's probably just that whole 'other people's misfortune is funny' thing it might well be ... but isn't that a very cruel human emotion ? Yup... But then, a British driver had just won the title, which I'm sure would have had a similar impact on a lot of people! I thought Massa handled things very well. I hope he gets to win the championship one year, he deserves to. He is, afterall, the 2nd driver at Ferrari, so he doesn't always get all the breaks that Raikkonen does and this year, he outclassed Kimi completely. I agree with you on that point... He was so gracious in defeat, and really pushed the title race all the way... It made F1 interesting again!

It could have been the tenseness of it all, and then the relief that Hamilton had won. I'm sure my heart stopped beating!
I like Massa too, but if he had Schumacher's mentality he probably would have won the title this year. I've always thought that Michael Schumacher was a pretty decent guy, just not if you're racing against him and his single-mindedness to win at almost any cost.
F1 is looking good for the future with so many decent up-and-coming drivers, along with established pro's like Alonso and Massa.
This is something Red Bull posted on their website earlier this year:
COST CUTTING IS THE HOT TOPIC IN F1 AT THE MOMENT AND RED BULL BRINGS YOU THE TOP SECRET TEAM BOSSES' DISCUSSION DOCUMENT
All team personnel to sleep in Japanese-style Capsule Hotel blocks parked in the GP2 paddock (locked at night.) Without access to towns, hotel bars etc, expenses should be drastically reduced and will also lead to a small but significant reduction in the use of headache pills.
Two drivers sharing one grid girl (on the grid, you filthy animals.)
Safety car replaced by one of those dummy hares you get at greyhound racing tracks.
Slightly shorter skirts for the grid girls, to save on fabric costs.
Photographers can only attend the first race of the season, where they will be given great access to cars and drivers. They can then photoshop different circuit backgrounds into all photos. Exceptions will be made if a driver changes his team or gender.
Team bosses to offer journalists flights to and from races on their private jets at budget airline prices.
Drivers who consistently crash to be given special, high-tech, rubber nosecones
Engines to be run on bio-diesel made from reclaimed cooking oil, thus saving the environment and giving teams an inducement to reintroduce the daily media fried breakfast.
Teams are only allowed one Press Release upgrade per season so that driver quotes are standardised. The use of the words "for sure" at the start of a driver quote is banned. Team bosses will face a three race ban if found in possession of the word "optimise."
Contract negotiations to be carried out by Tony Soprano and a bandsaw.
Spanish Grand Prix to be ended after first round of pit-stops, cutting costs and preventing the global TV audience dying of boredom.
All F1 drivers to be paid expenses only and then a bonus per finishing position. This will drastically reduce costs as well as making the race for eighth place the most exciting part of a Grand Prix.
