Ferrari do have a young test-driver who works alongside Badoer, but obviously they've gone for experience. I can't remember his name though. Hopefully Badoer will score his first ever points!

Were you referring to Marc Gene? Both Gene and Badoer are excellent test-drivers but neither are even remotely up to the standards of the ones who've been racing all season. It's still a very different job testing the car than it is racing it - apart from anything, that's why they give the race drivers themselves significant say in the development of the cars.
It's a pity that Schumacher wasn't fit enough after his motorcycle crash - would have made the weekend a bit more interesting. I partly disagree with Pete too, I think Schuey might even have made Kimi look a bit silly. It's one thing having to blow away the cobwebs, but talent doesn't just evaporate. And he's been keeping himself busy racing motorcycles. This is a man who on his very first test on a MotoGP Ducati, managed to get within two seconds of the lap record at the circuit (Valencia, I think he tested at).
I've not watched much F1 recently anyway. Usually too busy on my weekends to sit down for a few hours to watch it.

Badoer... What a laugh! 1.5 seconds off 19th place on the grid so qualifying 20th and last. It never went up from there really.

He didn't come last though! Somehow managed to beat the Japanese sensation otherwise known as 'Nakajima' And well done to Barrichello - Brawn are definitely on top now

Badoer was well funny, sliding off, making a penalty...moment of the race was when the commentator went 'oh, Badoer going the wrong way there.' It was like watching the F1 equivalent of James May.
To be fair to Nakijima, he did have the biggest puncture of all time.

Were you referring to Marc Gene? No, I thought there was someone else in their early 20s. I must have been wrong. Stick Nelson Piquet in the Ferrari, that's the best idea I've heard. It was great to see Barrichello winning a race. ;D

And he's won another one! ;D Really enjoying this season again - seemed to die a little bit over the summer, but the last couple of races have really turned things around, with the Force Indias coming from absolutely nowhere as well!

Pretty much a 2 horse race now between the Brawn drivers! Hoping Button wins, but Barrichello deserves it.

I must admit, I've had a good laugh about this, first they go "WE DID NOT DO IT!!!" to "oh, I guess we did". Goodbye Renault!

It was a pretty impressive crash too - wasn't it the one where he ended up facing the wrong way?

Yeah, that's the one. Telemetry shows that Nelson hit the throttle hard and much earlier on that turn than on previous laps, which caused wheelspin. He apparently then backed off instinctively before putting full throttle on again as he spun and hit the wall. Which is completely counter-instinctive as most drivers slam the brakes on when they get past the point of controlling a spin, not accelerate. I don't see the FIA punishing the actual team too harshly, for two reasons - they're trying to attract more teams to F1, not fewer, and secondly because a huge fine would be against F1's current ethos of reducing costs. If Renault leave F1 it'll be because they jump, not because they're pushed. It's important to remember that there are a lot of peoples' jobs at stake too, when only three people - Flavio, Pat and Nelson - were involved. It'd be quite unfair to punish the whole team severely when it's been proven from the evidence gathered that not even the engineers below Pat knew about the plan to put Piquet in the wall. I am glad to see the back of Briatore though. He's always been an utter cock and it's not the first time he's broken the rules, despite calling blue murder when other teams do the same. Bit disappointing that Symonds was involved as he's had a long history in F1 but perhaps it's indicative of the pressure that Flavio was putting on the team.

I thought it was a shame to see Symonds involved but I've never liked Briatorie either. I wonder if this will affect his position at QPR.
Eddie Irvine seems to think things like this go on all the time and we shouldn't be too shocked. I wasn't massively surprised, I just felt sorry for Piquet to be blackmailed into such a position.

Well, they've been banned for two years. I think they deserve it, and hopefully it'll stop this sort of thing happening in the future.

the ban is suspended - so providing they don't do anything else wrog within the nect 2 years, they wil still be competing.
howevber symonds and briatore have both quite rightly been banned from any contact with F1 - symonds for 5 years and briatore indefinitely.

poses QPR with a problem, as football league rules state you can't have a director/chairman etc who has been banned from any sporting body.
