Now reading The Information Officer by Mark Mills Finished that while ago now. Twas ok, not amazing but worth a read. Now reading Goddess: The Secret Lives Of Marilyn Monroe by Anthony Summers - almost finished it now...very very good. A bit heavy going, there's so much info in there even though it concentrates on her last 20 years. It's a fairly old book though so i may have to look up to see if any info has been proven right/wrong since.

bought and finished Quite Ugly One Morning yesterday. I absolutely love everything Brookmyre ever writes, so contemplating going to dig out Be My Enemy from me book shelf - one of the most hilarious books I have ever read! That or the one where Parlabane gets stabbed but i can't for the life of me remember which one it is.

John Niven - Kill Your Friends
It's about an A&R guy trying to get to the top of the record company he works in. I got really in to it for the first hundred or so pages, but now I'm struggling a bit. You're supposed to think the character you are following is a complete dick, but Niven's piled it on very bloody thickly. I think he's made a bit too much of the A&R "not knowing what the hell they're doing" thing when the characters he mentions are obviously successful enough to hold senior A&R jobs down in major labels. You can't empathise with the man at all, but he's also not the character you hate to love or love to hate. He's just a shallow knobend slowly spiralling in to a world of insanity. Meh, I'll finish it anyway! Then I get to crack on with my book list.

this thread always makes me add more books to my 'to read' list, bah. currently reading 'revolutionary road' which is a lot better/easier than i expected to be honest! before that i read 'the information officer' which was good, but i am a sucker for war stories anyhow. i liked that my guess of whodunnit was completely wrong... less obvious. before THAT i (re)read 'hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy'.... before that i can't remember
