Aye, heard that on the radio. Eh, not like I'm bothered Glad Chelsea won though, was well happy for Frank Lampard when he scored. Chelsea are the only team I've wanted to win the CL so it's looking alright for me...

Aye, heard that on the radio. Eh, not like I'm bothered it just amuses me greatly the sheer ridiculousness of it, like, do UEFA not check these things before allocating finals to stadiums? ;D not that i'll be going like (do i have a spare £1680... er no) short of winning a pair of tickets. have to say, i didn't think he should've been playing, and when we got a penalty we were all saying "ballack... germans don't miss", but all credit to super frankie, he stepped up and performed. the shots of his dad in the crowd were pretty emotional.

re Champions League final ... there was a good suggestion on Radio 5 last night ... i.e.
It's likely that the only countries to get 2 finalists are Spain, Italy, England and Germany. So, you nominate a neutral venue in each of those countries in case 2 teams from the same country make the final and then make the decision on where it will be held once the finalists are known. if the finalists are from different countries then perhaps stick with the current system.
Yes, the lead times on getting everything ready will be a lot shorter and the final may end up in the same country in consecutive years, but isn't that going to better for the fans in terms of travel etc? At the end of the day, the final is as much for the fans as it is for the competition and the teams, so let's, for once, give the fans a break and make a change to help them!

Gotta admit I was rooting for Liverpool last night... I wanted to see a Utd Liverpool final, the atmosphere would be unbelievable!
Felt quite pleased for Lampard though... The emotion the guy was feeling must have been at an unbelievable level... Top marks to him...

i'm sure the FA had put a request in for final to be moved to the uk, seeing as its all english - and wasn't there a request couple of seasons back when it was an all italian final? UEFA turned that one down so chances are same thing. so let's, for once, give the fans a break and make a change to help them! it'd be nice if that was to ever happen in football eh? gutted for leeds, thing is though none of this should've happened during the season's closing. wonder if decision would be the same had it all be sorted out before the season kicked off? problem at the moment is any decision giving them points back would screw with the promotion issues. hope they go up regardless.

Pete: It's over, don't worry about that. We're essentially a bloody test case.
Gutted but optimistic. I'm annoyed the arbitration people blamed Leeds for delaying this process but we appealed as soon as the decision was made. The Football League are corrupt bastards. However, as strong as our case was and as much as I love this club, I knew in my head that we'd get nothing back, purely because it would have been so impractical to re-instate any amount of points at this stage of the season.
At the start of the season I had no idea there was such strong appealing going on, and three months in I knew we had a strong fight for promotion on, so I've been convinced the whole time that we'd go up without them. We've got momentum going into the playoffs and now an even stronger urge - that 'seige mentality' - to win them as a middle finger to the organisation that gave us this penalty. I really hope Uncle Ken means it when he says it's the end, because I'm sick of the whole thing now.
Let's do what we've been doing all season. Let's win promotion by performances on the pitch.
15 points, who gives a fuck? We're super Leeds, and we're goin' up.

an awesome year for British football! Hope you're not including the national sides in that So true!!! Ahhh well - it has been pretty good for the Scottish clubs this year - only Rangers made a real impact though - they are a bit lucky to be honest though The English have been totally dominant though - I generally do like to see their clubs succeed - shame the final isn't in UK though for the fans but it would be unfair to move it away from the hosts. Rangers will be pleased its playing in Manchester

Here's a thought regarding the trouble with Man Utd and Chelsea fans going to Moscow. I wonder if they'll consider the fact that Zenit St. Petersburg - a Russian side - will be having to come to Manchester for the UEFA Cup final. They were talking on the radio this morning about how they might make things easier for the English fans coming into Russia, as the Russians coming to England for the UEFA Cup final won't have half as much hassle as the Man you/Chelsea fans.

Personally I reckon they should decide where the final is after the teams who make the final are known - so if there are 2 teams one from the top leagues then they can go to a stadium in their country, and maybe if it is 2 teams from different leagues then maybe a neutral country in the middle somewhere - I mean its a lot easier for Rangers supporters to get to Manchester than Zenit St. Petersburg - surely somewhere like Germany would be more fair in that regard

Anyone know why Aberdeen have one less point than Hearts in the Scottish PL, but are one place above them in the league?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Couldn't find anything on it on BBC.
They've had to extend it now as well because of Rangers getting to the UEFA Cup final.

Ahhhh the SPL split - its pretty basic really - after 33 games the top 6 and bottom 6 seperate from each other and play each other, and if your in the bottom 6 you can't get into the top 6
The reasoning is pretty simple - its pretty hard to get 44 games played in a season for the top flight clubs so instead its 38
Yeah I read Rangers should have 4 games in 8 days or something like that because of this (unless this has changed)
