Interessing, I hadn't made the connection with Jon yet... probably because Johnny is spelled with an 'h'...

That is ridiculous nonsense. As far as I know, Come Back Around had been demoed (musically - not lyrically) and that was why it was a good transition single, with the music had been played by him and the lyrics about him.
And as for the rest, it's so obviously about Jon Lee that it was written after his death. Whoever wrote that is an ignorant douche.

Well, actually you can't say that Grant is not used to repeating some lines in his lyrics, but these guys should know that this doesn't mean that the same line is repeated in every song. I think they should read the lyrics to "Swim", "Undivided", "Yesterday went too soon", "Moonshine" and so on, they would probably shut the fuck up. Linky? Prize turds the both of them.

I think Godzilla was demo'd sometime during Echo Park/just after it, but I definitely remember an interview where Grant said the lyrics were thrashed out when Grant found a toy Godzilla that Jon used to have on tour... Anyway, that aside. A local acquaintance has a promo copy and was kind enough to let me listen to it today. Gotta say, I'm not keen on the first half of the album (Borders aside, obviously). When it's released, it'll probably grow on me. From "Sunrise" onwards is storming though, love the bluesy feel of Fools Can't Sleep. I just can't put my finger on what's missing from that first half. Eagerly awaiting April now!

Bluesy? Did you actually say bluesy? As in... blues? You make me one happy man, man!

Bluesy? Did you actually say bluesy? As in... blues? You make me one happy man, man! Yup, it's got a proper swing to it. Anyway, that's it for me til release date, unless I bite on a promo. But I think I'm done with the days of spending a lot of money on Feeder

Then It breaks into typical melodic Feeder, love the chorus!

i still don't quite get everyone listening to them all before they've even been released, i don't think that's right, just wait till it's actually been released, that's what i'm doing, and that's what i do with all albums Maybe i'm a bit too far this way, i havent even listenined to Borders yet but that's not the point...

Definitely agreed on Fools can't sleep, bluesy is the right word! i still don't quite get everyone listening to them all before they've even been released, i don't think that's right, just wait till it's actually been released, that's what i'm doing, and that's what i do with all albums Maybe i'm a bit too far this way, i havent even listenined to Borders yet but that's not the point... Right or wrong, who can say? As long as I haven't downloaded it illegally and I have a promo copy of it (which is an official copy nonetheless) that I'm not sharing with anyone (unless really trusted people) I find there's nothing wrong. I just couldn't wait, so I looked hard enough for a copy and found one. This is what happens with every album, if you want to promote your music, then the risk for the artist is that someone gets to hear it a lot before release. I convinced 5 people to buy the album when it's out by letting them listen to my promo copy of GF, and I'm talking about people who have not bought a single original album in their lives and made up with illegally downloaded music. Aaaaanyway, this is what their facebook page says right now: We are excited to announce that FEEDER will be heading out on the road again this November to play some BIG shows.
Ticket presale for the tour begins on Wednesday 21st March at 9am through www.feederweb.com/
17th Nov @ O2 Academy, Glasgow 18th Nov @ Manchester Academy 20th Nov @ Portsmouth Guildhall 21st Nov @ Civic Hall, Wolverhampton 23rd Nov @ O2 Academy, Brixton
Pre-Order both tickets and the forthcoming album 'Generation Freakshow' and we'll send you an exclusive download of new track 'No Light'.I mean, seriously? Gutted I can't buy any more tickets!

I have raised the issues over that track and e announcement, I.e.
Do we have to preorder the album AGAIN even if we have already done that?
What about those fans, mostly outside of the UK, who'll want that track but are unlikely to be buying tickets?
No definitive answers yet ... But when and if I do, I'll share on here.

Hmmmmm..... apparently my preorder of the new album has been dispatched. Must be a mistake? I thought it was moved to an April release?

There are no plans for an Instrumental promo album at the moment ( I'm sure I've heard one track on Sky Sports though!)

Given recent history: 1) Coast to Coast and Along the Avenues Vinyl only. 2) Miles Away *potentially* requires another full album download and at the least involves installing the, frankly awful, iTunes. 3) Find A Place seemingly Vinyl only. I'm assuming that No Light will only be available through a pre-order with the tickets. As such, I now have 2 pre-orders as I didn't want to miss out. Might cancel the Recordstore pre-order as a result, can always stay in with a chance of winning the guitar: "No purchase necessary - you can enter by post: Feeder Competition, Digital Stores LTD, 27 Wrights Lane, London, W8 5SW or by email: competitions@digitalstores.co.uk. Guitar is distributed at random and the offer will be taken down once dispatched. All previous Feeder album pre-order customers will automatically be entered into this competition."

This new strategy of "exclusive" tracks on various formats is a little disappointing. I can cope with vinyl / cassette only tracks, personally (as I have the kit to play it), but I can see why others can't. I've never been a fan of an extra track here or an extra track there on various release platforms, retailers. I was glad that Feeder never went down this route ... that is, until now ... *sigh* I am debating cancelling with Recordstore too, but since I've already paid (as I used a debit card) I'm not sure how easy it will be. Do I really want the album twice on CD ? Mind you, thinking about it, the Recordstore one is signed and the gig package one isn't, so that actually might be a rarity these days, given how EVERY release seems to be offered as signed.

I quite like No Light, but I can see why it's not an album track (much like Arms, Along the Avenues and Coast to Coast).
Disappointed to see that it's only 128 kbps, but at least that means it doesn't sound out of place next to my Along the Avenues and Coast to Coast rips.
I'd forgotten that the Recordstore GF CD was signed. That *might* affect my decision but, as you've pointed out, it's not like I have a shortage of signed merch - signed Comfort in Sound and Renegades (White) test case print overshadow most...

The thing is though ... my main annoyance is that it's one thing after another ... there doesn't seem to be a consistent, long term, release strategy for the campaign. I can honestly cope with singles having exclusive tracks. That's fine ... but album wise, it should be more well thought out. I would not have pre-ordered the album from Recordstore had I known this was going to happen. I don't really need 2 identical copies of the album!

They seem to be making things up as they go along. I mean first 'Generation Freakshow' was the next single then they go for 'Children Of The Sun' with no explanation on why GF was shelved. Now they want us to pre-order the album AGAIN just to get a b-side track. =/
