Generation Freakshow listen 1: A bit disappointed, underwhelmed after all the positive reports. I like half of the tracks but the other half seem average. Listen 2: Maybe it's a bit better than I thought. Listen 3: Now these tunes are getting into my head. Listen 4: Wow! The only track I didn't like at all on first listen was In All Honesty, but now I like that too.
There don't seem to be any total Feeder classics like Just A Day, Buck Rogers, High, YWTS etc...and I think the album could do with one more quieter track, but taking it as a whole, at the moment I'm thinking this could be Feeder's best album, and it seems to encapsulate every album (and even b-side era) without sounding too much like anything they've done.
The only track I'm not a big fan of is Fools Can't Sleep, which sounds like it's from Silent Cry. Perhaps it's something about having "Fool" in the title as the only song I don't like on my other favourite album of 2012 so far does too.
It's just a shame Grant isn't Dave Grohl as then the media and Feeder-haters would be loving it.

Just listened to the new album. Very good quality of songs, Oh My, Idaho, Sunrise, Quiet etc. Some of them for me are slightly thin, namely tracks 9, 10, 11. But they're growing on me!
Like how the tracks are fuller than Renegades album, got more keys etc. Harmonies on the songs are great (Even if they may have overdone them a bit!) To give it a fuller sound. Think it's a very strong album and feels very modern and up to date from Feeder.
However,
LOVE IT - Catchy Songs!

For me I'm struggling to get into the album beyond track 7 (Generation Freakshow). I think every song up to this point is really really good, but none of the rest of the tracks stand out.
I agree that the fuller sound works really well. It was what I liked about Silent Cry and didn't like (lack of fuller sound) in Renegades.

How can you not think Headstrong is a stand out song? It's a beast! I had another listen, and I remain unconvinced! I'm surprised that people aren't talking more about Generation Freakshow (song). I know it was on XFM a while back but hearing it in full is just brilliant. The guitar that comes in at 0:41 and 0:55 (pre-choruses) fits perfectly!

Vinyl? I didn't get any emails that it was sent! I only got the email for the signed album! I got the email for the CD during the week, with the email for the vinyl turning up last night. Both arrived today though. I'm sure you'll get it soon. Absolutely loving it!

I have not and will never look for torrents or whatever of unreleased material ... it's wrong and is harming the music industry in more ways than you can imagine. Again, your opinion. At least for bands signed in major labels, so I'm not talking about Feeder. They don't get much money from album sales but from live concerts. Personally I don't care about major record companies and if I harm their revenues, with -imho- all the crappy artists they're promoting these days. But I don't think I'm harming anyone and here's the reason: Not all people act the same. In my case, illegal downloading has introduced me to music I never thought I'd listen to. Afterwards I've bought many cd's I wouldn't have, so I guess music industry has benefited from me. If I was unaware of the great music I wouldn't have become a buyer nor a collector. I'm speaking about myself because I don't know how other people act. That's only my opinion on things. As of Feeder... why should you have to search for torrents when they've given you a promo album to listen to. I wouldn't have searched either

Mine arrived this morning as well! ;D Just gotten through Oh My, sounds good! I'm a little bit underwhelmed by the packaging - seems a bit cheap. They did much better on that front with Renegades. But hey I'm not going to be worrying about that in a bit. Jessie always wanted....

After a few listens, I love Sunrise and Headstrong. I like all of the songs apart from maybe Fool's Can's sleep. Can't wait until November

I like the packaging, but the booklet is a bit thin. Could have done with some more lyrics/photos

Was hoping for mine today as Amazon said it should be arriving. But a distinct lack of postman thinks it's gonna have to be Monday for me

I'm speaking about myself because I don't know how other people act. That's only my opinion on things. You can do whatever you want, clearly, but you are committing an illegal act and there are consequences. I'm not saying the system today is perfect, it's not, there should be a "try before you buy" option for music. I don't know what that should be, but the industry needs to recognise this and work on it ... "given" ? No-one from the label has given me anything pre-release ever! I've obtained promo copies, at my own expense, certainly, but I don't get many, if any perks, these days, for my links to FeederHQ. In fact, most of the time, I just get grief ... Anyway ... the postie delivered my signed album from Recordstore and I got my unsigned one from Sandbag, which is sealed and will probably remain so ... no point opening it! No sign of the LP though ... maybe that will come Monday? Hope so ... I was out when the post came (playing golf) but there was no card left for an undelivered package.

Hey Johnny is very emotional and definitely my favourite song so far. In fact the entire middle of the album is where the heart string-playing songs exist, with the loud expressionism sandwiching it from either end.
It's interesting that the lyrics so directly reference Jon, whereas before Grant has touched on it more subversively; entirety of Comfort in Sound obviously, Bitter Glass, Sonorous.... Perhaps he now feels comfortable to write about it in a direct way?

The packaging is just great, really like the inner sleeve of the vinyl too, especially the "Headstong" quotation with the picture of Grant and Taka.
The acoustic guitar strums between the verses and chorus of "Quiet" really compliment the song nicely.
